The 2001 Napanee Mixed Bonspiel was a huge success. It could have been a disaster as a plant failure the weekend before nearly meant there would be no ice for the event, but Hugh Sharpe worked overtime and got things playable just in time. Apart from the curling, the highlight of the weekend was the Saturday evening party featuring a theme of famous couples. If you were there you would have seen some of the great couples of all time such as the Bunkers (Archie and Edith, "Meathead" and Gloria), The Momas and Popas, ABBA, the Flintstones and others.
