"NEVER TOO LATE"
Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday and today and forever.
(Hebrews 13:8)
Before moving to the city, we
had a country home, surrounded by 40 acres of pasture. One day while I was
working in the flower beds, I noticed a small form slowly creeping beside the
garden about a hundred feet or so away. When I got closer, I realized it
was a poor little abandoned kitten - weak, hungry, and thirsty, and barely able
to walk. We fed the little thing and it responded with love, following me
everywhere I went.
Unfortunately, the little
thing did not survive because it had been neglected too long, and had contracted
a fatal bacteria, but I shed many tears, to think how it suffered, going without
food and water for perhaps a good many days, before finally stumbling to our
house. If the owners, however, would have returned to claim him he would have
been so happy to see them, and would have loved and welcomed them as if they had
never abandoned him.
God takes us back in the same
manner. No matter what we have done or how low we have gone, it is NEVER
too late. God wants us to respond to his love by following and obeying him, but he never gives up on us. When we are separated from God, we
become spiritually weak, hungry, and thirsty, and wander around lost and without
hope, but faith in God and love for our Savior Jesus Christ, renews our spirit
and fills our soul with joy.
