NU'S

Dissection sebuah lagi band berteraskan black metal.

Menurut Jon, vokalis Dissection "Dissection will come back soon He said that since the first time he entered the Jail he started to create songs in his mind and soul 11 new songs will be recorded next year. We will turn to asses the todays black/death metal scene. Faust (ex. Emperor member)...the new drummer he said that he is proud to anounce that he will be the new drummer of the band ....and that he knows him from early 90...also that he was in touch with him even in the jail....he will be the absolute drummer for the band."

HI-STORY

DISSECTION merupakan sebuah band yg memperjuangkan irama black/death metal. Berasal dari Gothenburg, Sweden Dissection dibentuk tahun 1989 oleh vokalis/gitar Jon Nödtveidt dan basis Peter Palmdahl; kemudian kemasukan Ole Öhman selaku pemain dram pada musim luruh lalu mereka terus merakamkan demo pertama, The Grief Prophecy. Tahun 1991 pula demo kedua dirakamkan aiaitu "Into Infinite Obscurity". Pemain gitar kedua, John Zwetsloot menyertai Dissection yg seterusnya merakamkan LP pertama bertajuk The Somberlain, penghujung 1993. Johan Norman pula masuk menggantikan Zwetsloot, dimana Storm of the Light's Bane lahir pada tahun 1996.

Buat tatapan peminat, Dissection muncul tahun 2001 dengan kompilasi album The Past Is Alive yg memuatkan lagu-lagu lama mereka tahun 90 - 92.

Dissection was formed in 1989 by guitarist/vocalist Jon N?dveidt and bass player Peter Palmdahl. Earlier they played in a thrash metal band called Siren?s Yell, a band existing between 1987 and 1989. They started writing songs and in the spring of 1990 drummer Ole ?hman joined the band. In 1990 they released their first demo called "The Grief Prophecy" and a little later they signed a deal with the French Corpsegrinder Records to release a 7" EP called "Into Infinite Obscurity" in 1991. In the beginning of 1992 they recorded their second demo called "The Somberlain" which helped them sign a one album deal with Swedish No Fashion Records. They now recorded their debut album called "The Somberlain" like the demo. Because of delays and label problems it wasn?t released until December 1993. The album was engineered by famous musician/producer Dan Swan? and it was dedicated to Euronymous of Mayhem, a good friend of the band. The guy who ran No Fashion had signed too many bands and therefore he got himself into financial problems and delays. About the same time that the debut album was released he sold the company to the major Swedish metal distributor House Of Kicks. House Of Kicks didn?t give the album any promotion at all but still about 8000 copies were sold.

In 1995 guitarist John Zweetslot had to leave the band which was a big setback since he was an important song-writer. He was getting lazy and didn?t bother coming to the rehearsals so there was no other way to go. John almost immediately started a new band called Cardinal Sin together with former members of the Swedish black metal band Marduk. The new guitarist was Johan Norman, a long time friend of the band. In July 1997 Jon M?dveidt and a guy named Vlad killed a 37-year old homosexual Algerian named Josef Ben Maddour and on the 7th of July Jon was sentenced to 8 years in prison and Vlad to 10 years. Vlad was also wanted for another murder and mutilation of a teenage girl. . In October 1998 German major label Nuclear Blast signed Ole ?hman's new band Reaper, later renamed Soulreaper. From the 'Past is Alive' booklet

The year was 1991, and a little-known band in Sweden had jut released their first demo called "The Grief Prophecy". A short while later, this band recorded a 7" EP called "Into Infinite Obscurity", and a new sound was born. At a time when the Black/Death Metal scene as we know was experiencing a change, DISSECTION stayed a cut above the rest. Like the legacy of forefathers before them, to truly innovate the genre was something that came naturally. I got in touch with Jon Nodtveidt (vocals/guitar) sometime back in 1991. He answered my letter in 1992 as he was moving around, and we became friends. DISSECTION were then signed to new Swedish label, NO FASHION RECORDS, run by Tomas Nyquist of PUTREFACTION magazine. In 1992, we approached Tomas to open up an office in the US and he agreed. It was March 1993 when DISSECTION entered the studio and recorded their tremendous debut album, "The Somberlain".

Shortly after this NO FASHION hit financial problems and the label was sold to House of Kicks, putting delay on this mighty release. Meanwhile Jon had told us about a side project band he was in called THE BLACK, which later signed to Necropolis Records and released a brilliant album called "the Priest of Satan". It was around this time that we began asking Jon if it was oissubke fir zs ti re-release the mighty DISSECTION demos and earlier recordings. We had always thought that these recordings were far more raw and intense than the studio album, which demos usually are, and since we had been into the band so long it was only natural to want to release these rare recordings onto a proper format so they could be further shared with those who enhiyed them as much as we did. However, DISSECTION's mark had yet to be made onto the internation scene, and it was for this reason that we both decided to wait until after DISSECTION's second album was released this time on Nuclear Blast, called "Storm of the Light's Bane".

"Storm of the Light's Bane" brought instant acclaim to the band in the international underground, striking up a host of great reviews and a US tour. It also brought forth the addition of new guitarist JOhan Norman and drummer Tobbe Kellgren, who had previously played with Jon Nodtveidt in SATANIZED. So it was after this that the time was finally right to release this long-awaited compilation album. We are proud to present you with the DISSECTION that was opnly previously known tp the Underground - The Early Years. All tracks on this album were and picked by the band members themsleves, and through ,amy years of strife, our evil deed is done. "The Past is Alive" should be viewed as a historic event for a band who refused to follow trends and continued to set them - a journey far beyond all light into a darkened mist of burning hate. These are the Ashes of the past, the years that fell into oblivion..., now restored and brought back from obscurity...

We are proud to present DISSECTION, in their rawest form. My hails to them for giving us the opportunity to get the "old feeling back ince again, and for making us remember that the Past truly is alive! (taken from their website)
