Life Script

August 5th 2004
by Rev. Korinne Wilson

I have a theory that we are all wearing masks. Not the preverbal “no one truly knows anyone else”. I am talking about beyond the world of psychology.
On one level of knowing I have come to view life as a movie. We are all spirits incarnated into animal bodies. The flesh carries our soul through life. While still in spirit (before we incarnated in human form) we choose the destiny we want to act out, and attract others who are willing to complement our roles. It is a known philosophy that we chose our parents. There is also a theory that we as spirits travel together in “soul groups” when we incarnate. Social trends and fashion fads tend to repeat themselves. There are many who feel like dressing and decorating their homes in the antiquities of our past. Some go a step farther to fashion their entire lifestyle around a certain period. I believe these are traits of a past life coming back to their subconscious.
I have had personal experience that has shown me beyond others egos. I believe it to be a psychic sight. As an adult I have been in situations where I saw the other peoples “mask” slip. In psychology when we see someones mask slip we are talking about seeing through them. This is to convey the thought of seeing through a lie or false emotion. I remember distinctly, I was being admitted to the hospital. My favorite aunt was looking deeply worried with her attention fully on me. I looked into her eyes, and saw her smiling. I felt like she was saying “This is all a game, everything is fine. I’m not even who you think I am.” I saw into her soul, and it spoke to me. I felt a kinship with her at that moment. I deeply felt she was my soul sister on the other side. Without her ego knowing it, her higher self came through and comforted me.
I know our roles are very important to spiritual evolution. Every generation in recent history has had a massive tragedy. Our September 11th was one among many. Think of how that effected you, at your core. Even if some push away the intensity of that event, our subconscious is still very aware. We are evolving as a human race toward our spiritual selves. Events such as that compel us to grow.
We choose every aspect of our destiny before we incarnate. We create what I like to call a "soul script". Our egos are the actors in the movie, our spiritual self is behind the actor. In the material world, the ego is our personality and attachment to temporal thinking. It is the part of us that believes what it sees, not what it feels. Those who pay more attention to their feelings and intuitions, are more apt to see between the lines. Spiritual practice can help you become aware of your ego and what lies beyond it.

There are certain events, people, and even phrases that can activate a different part of our soul script. It gives us an inner knowing that change is coming, and prepares us on a subconscious level. Since we are spirit in animal form, we have a human and spiritual consciousness. The human consciousness is a part of the ego -personality drive. The subconscious is our link with our higher consciousness. Dreams are the easiest gateway for most. We may not all believe in a higher power, religion, spirituality, or even have ethics, yet we all dream. What a wonderful thing to have in common. Yet there is purpose for everything, the dreams we have help us navigate through our life script. The Ego thinks it is in charge of the life script, when it is the subconscious spirit that has written it. When we respect our dreams as messengers and decipher their symbols we can use the knowledge to change our lives.
It seems most people are so lost in their egos and the parts they have chosen to play, that they ignore the deep inner voice. For thirteen years as a psychic I have listened intently to the deeper parts of people. Sometimes my client was well aware of all I had to tell her/him. However the most common is someone who feels like they may know the answer but do not want to face it. The ego wants to feel safe and uses denial as a tool to cope. Denial is the smothering pillow over our inner voice. The more denial we allow in our lives the less alive we are. Denial shuts down parts of the emotional self and causes illness.
I have seen many get dragged down in denial, which creates karmic lessons. Dating a boy you kind of like, marrying him because your family likes him and you need a way out, then having a few children to try to fill the void. It’s all too common. I have met hundreds of women who share this story. For most of them it will never be happily ever after. They keep giving of themselves so much that they fall sick and die still unsatisfied with life. This was their ego lesson in this life. Yet what would have happened if she had followed her intuition, and made choices based on her inner voice? It is possible she would not have created those karmic lessons. I do not know if we can all wake up from the trappings of the ego. The part of us who believes for a fact this is all real, and only material exists.

Through my twenties I had to heal many wounded parts of my ego. I was a codependent, an adult child of an alcoholic, a survivor of abuse, with some major family issues. I went through many karmic lessons that my ego needed to learn. However since I can remember I have trusted my feelings, though not always chose to listen. Through the process of psychological and emotional healing I came to notice when I was acting out of my dysfunctional patterns. The family that raised me had programmed me to live a chaotic life with much emotional upheaval. The filter through which I perceived the world and myself was blackened with the dysfunction of my past. After reaching many realizations I began to heal and evolve as a person. I am no longer my families creation, I am my own. Learning to love and care for yourself is a big leap on the road that leads out of suffering.

Some souls incarnated at the moment have already reached enlightenment. They had gone through all the karmic lessons it takes for a soul to evolve. These spirits choose to reincarnate for the good of humanity. At times of great change there are more enlightened souls on the earth. I believe we are in such at time currently. The whole spiritual community is a buzz with new information, and a feeling of shifting energy. Some say we are all going to wake up from our ego dream and get real. I would love to see that!

The life script can be challenging, how far did you challenge yourself in this incarnation? What role did you choose to play? Are you doing what you feel you should be doing? Can you see the karmic roles that have been played out in your own life?
