~ a little history ~ Live interactive web events are still relatively new to the United States Women of Today. The idea was first brainstormed and put into action by the USWT Future Directions committee in 1999 when the Breast Cancer Awareness Online Forum went into planning. Three experts in the Breast Cancer field joined us online that day, fielding questions from Women of Today across the nation as we strove to educate our members and increase awareness about Breast Cancer. The Future Directions Committee hosted a second forum for Women of Today Week, 2000. It was given the catchy title "Web Night In" and was billed as a time to learn "everything you wanted to know about the Women of Today but were afraid to ask or didn't know who to ask." This event, featuring five seasoned USWT members as guest speakers, was educational and a lot of fun, with over 150 members participating nationwide. Members posed questions on everything from what it's like to serve on the National Staff to questions about Chapter Management. We shared success stories and brainstormed together about the challenges we face. Unfortunately, the text from that online event is no longer available. But don't fret! By reading this website for the upcoming Web Night In, you are taking your first step to participating in this interactive nationwide event, right from the comfort of your own home. We invite you to join us the night of Wednesday, September 26th. Spread the news throughout your chapter. Invite members who don't have web access to share in the fun in your home.
