The Power of One - Chapter 4

Michael’s “Coming Out”

Jackie: “It’s them. They were the three in my premonition the day we vanquished Andras.”

Phoebe: “Yeah. He really wasn’t the best spirit for the job.” – She looked at Jackie’s hand to see the stake ready for vanquishing the Vampire Queen. – “Impressive. That vanquish wasn’t in the book when we had it. Must have been updated.”

Paige: “You say you had a premonition about us? Well, I guess it makes sense living in that house and all.”

Jackie: “No. I got it from a picture of the book of a demon named…” – She stopped to try to remember the name of the demon. –

Phoebe: “Belthazor. Didn’t your white-lighter tell you?” – She looked at Luke. – “Belthazor…well, Cole became the new Source.”

Alex: “Yeah he told us. He tricked you into the dark ceremony and brought you over to the side of evil. Then you used the Evil Book Of Shadows to suppress your sisters with the pull of evil, eventually turning…” – He was cut off. –

Phoebe: “I didn’t ask you for my life story.”

She pulled her hand back to create a fireball then through it forward as a stream of fire towards Alex. Having their powers expanded because of the medallion from the elders, Alex orbed to their backside. Because Paige was half-lighter like them, she sensed him about to appear behind them and conjured lightning to strike behind Piper, where Alex was about to land. The orbs were struck by lightning, causing them to break apart, making Alex fall fifteen feet to the ground. Piper raised her hands to use her exploding power on Jackie. She put her hands in front of her face before the power hit her. When Piper gestured her hands to use the ability, a green energy field appeared in front of her where the power was directed. She tried again and again but she didn’t manage to break through that field. Jackie put her hands in front of her to see them glowing red.

Luke: “Jackie. Reverse the attack. Re-direct it.”

Piper: “She has the power of the old Dark Triangle, the power of controlled deflection.”

Jackie re-did Piper’s gesture and hit her with the power to explode. Alex got up from the ground and froze the room so that everything and everyone in it stopped moving. He walked over to Michael and Jackie and unfroze only them and Luke.

Alex: “There’s no point in fighting them. They have more power…it’ll just be suicide if we continue.”

Luke: “He’s right. And it looks like they called for the power of their past lives.”

They walked down the corridor to the lair of the Vampire Queen. Three huge vampires who appeared to be bodyguards surrounded her. Bats hung all over the ceiling looking for someone to bite.

Michael: “What do we do about that?” – He looks up to the bats. –

Alex: “Well, you know we could just…”

Alex begins to gesture single handedly at the bats on the ceiling and they begin to turn on fire. Michael gestures at a torch and it orbs to the bats, lighting them on fire. Soon enough, they were all gone.

Michael: “Got any ideas on how to take care of these guys?”

Jackie: “Making you can just orb the stake through her. We wouldn’t have to fight or anything.”

So he tried it. He called for the stake and when it was in his hand, he through it in an already orbed form. It hit one of the bodyguards and kept flying. The vampire that was hit was surrounded by fire and soon turned to nothing. That caught the Queen’s attention and she turned around to see the stake flying at her. She put her hand in front of her and the orbed stake redirected at Michael.

Michael: “Doesn’t look like that’s gonna work.”

He moved forward and caught the stake in the middle of the air. Alex froze the two vampires already making their way to attack them. Slowly but surely enough, the vampires were coming out of the freeze. Michael became frustrated and threw the stake forward; again piercing threw the vampires heart. The stake stopped mid air and started on its return piercing through the other and continuing towards Jackie. Before it hit her (not by much) Michael opened his hand in the air and the stake returned to him, landing from its orbed form on his hand. The stake burned him so he dropped it on the ground.

Jackie: “Splinter?”

Michael: “Yeah…Yeah splinter.” – He looked at his hand and thought about the fact that the holy water on the stake burned him. – Is it already starting?

The three surrounded the Vampire Queen, who started throwing fireballs at them. Paige orbed in between Alex and Jackie.

Paige: “No fighting. We’re here for the same reason you are.”

Piper and Phoebe walked into the room. Piper stood in between Alex and Michael and Phoebe in between Michael and Luke. Alex took out the stake from his pocket, where he had put it after picking it up, and Phoebe had a fireball in her hand. Luke looked at the fireball.

Phoebe: “What? You don’t expect me to hold something with Holy Water on it, do you?” – Luke shrugged at her. –

Piper: - Piper sees the stake in Alex’s hand and says – “That stake isn’t gonna work, kid. What we need is a nicely written power-of-three spell.”

Just to prove her wrong, Alex through the stake at the Vampire Queen, aiming carefully for her heart. When it was about to hit her, the stake lit on fire and turned to ashes.

Piper: “See.” – She takes out a piece of paper from her jean pocket. – “Paige, Phoebe.”

The three sisters stood together and read the spell to vanquish the vampire queen.

Haliwell Sisters:

“Evil eyes look upon thee
May this spell extinguish thee
Bend your will to the power of three
Eyes of Earth, Evil, and Accursed”

The Vampire Queen yelled in agony as she was surrounded in fire and vanquished. Phoebe turned around to look at Michael.

Phoebe: “The Elders were wrong. The poison runs faster while consuming the good in you. And by the look on your face I doubt you’ve told them yet. But shouldn’t they know? I mean…if evil is lurking in the next room, they should be prepared. Don’t you think?” – She looked at Alex and Jackie and saw them looking at Michael with a confusing and sorrowful look. – “We’ll see you later.”

Phoebe became surrounded by fire and then she was gone. Paige grabbed Piper’s hand and dark-orbed them back to the underworld.

Jackie: “What haven’t you told us?”

Michael stood there looking at them both and started to explain but couldn’t find the right words.

Luke: “This’ll go better if we’re at the manor.”

Luke grabbed Jackie’s shoulder and orbed her to the manor.

On the other side of the room, the air seemed to blur, almost like a shimmer. When it was gone, there stood the mages known as The Elite, JC in the middle. To his left were Justin and Chris and to his right were Lance and Joey. JC, Chris, Justin and Joey looked around the lair for the Vampire Queen. Lance turned around in time to see Michael and Alex orb away, happy he saw a glimpse of them after so many years.

Lance: “We’re too late.”

Joey: “What do you mean?”

Lance: “The witches already took care of it. Just saw them leave.”

Chris: “Well at least they’re good at something.” – Wanting to say something that would bother Lance. –

Lance: “My aunt was a witch, Chris. Shut your mouth.”

Chris: “Or what? You gonna send Joey here after me?”

Joey: “You better believe it.” – He walks over to Lance and puts his arm around him. – “So you watch your back, Kirkpatrick.”

JC pushes Justin over to where the three where standing and follows.

Joshua: “Alright, well…no point in staying here anymore. Are we going?”

After everyone does something to show agreement, they form a circle and hold hands. JC says something in Irish Gaelic and they disappear, the air left in a shimmer.

-------------------- Back at the Manor:

After they landed in the manor nobody said anything. Luke orbed away saying that this was something they had to deal with without him. When he left Michael felt cornered. He knew that Luke wasn’t going to go against him and was hoping he would stay around for moral support. Without saying anything, Alex sat down on the couch and grabbed the remote. Jackie followed suit and they watched television.

Michael: “I thought we were gonna talk.”

Alex: “We’re not gonna force it, Mike. When you’re ready to tell us, we’ll be here to listen. But if you’re not ready to say anything now, you don’t have to.”

Jackie: “Is that alright?”

Michael: “Yeah…that’s fine. Thanks.”

He turns around and walks upstairs to his room. He couldn’t tell Alex or Jackie now, but he needed to talk to someone. So, he gets up from looking out the window and climbs the steps to the attic. Jackie hears the steps from downstairs and gets up with the excuse of going to the bathroom. She climbs the stairs and listens behind the closed attic door.

Michael set a circle of candles on the floor of the attic to summon the spirit of Andrea, his mother.

Michael:

“Hear these words, hear my cry
Spirit from the other side
Come to me, I summon the
Cross now the great divide”

In the circle appeared Andrea, the mother of Alex, Jackie and Michael who died protecting the three from The Source.

Michael: “Hi mom.” – He looked at her face and saw the sadness there. –

Andrea: “Oh, baby.” – She steps out of the circle and hugs him. –

Michael: “You know, don’t you?”

Andrea: “Yeah. We all know.” – Michael looked down in disappointment. Andrea raises his head. – “You have lots of time before it consumes you entirely. But you have to fight it. The temptation to turn over to the dark side is what will turn you but Michael you have to fight it.”

Michael: “Luke said there’s no way of fighting the poison. It’ll eventually get me.”

Andrea: “Michael, you were born a good witch. That good will always be in you. Even after it happens. The Haliwell sisters are still good inside. But because they are tied together and Phoebe is Queen of the underworld, they can’t fight the darkness as hard as they try. But you fight. Fight until you can’t anymore”

Michael: “What should I do? Should I go away…” From outside of the attic door, Jackie heard enough. With tears in her eyes, she went downstairs and into the bathroom. Minutes later she goes down into the living room to where Alex is sitting down talking to Luke. He looks at Jackie and sees her crying.

Alex: “What’s wrong?”

Jackie: “Mike. The poison is making him evil.”
