The Threat of The Secret - Chapter 2

The Smart Spell

“So how do we get out of here without anyone knowing? Do you think we could orb to the manor?” asked Michael as he remembered the events of the night they vanquished Eames.

“I don’t think we can. That last time it happened, Jackie orbed to the same spot. No, I don’t think we would be able to pull off an orb to my place.” Jackie got up and started pacing, something they all had in common.

“So what do we do?” She thought for a second and came up with the solution. She looked at Alex, “Wait, can’t Luke orb us there?”

“Yeah. He did it before so I’m pretty sure he could do it again.” Alex walked over to the door of the room they were in and looked out the small glass window. After he made sure no one was around to see the light given off a white-lighter’s orb, he called for Luke.

The room became filled with a blue light. When the light subsided, the clutter of tiny blur orbs around Luke disappeared.

He looked at Michael. “What’s wrong?”

“No, Luke. I didn’t do anything. We need you to orb us home. Jackie had a premonition and we need to check the Book of Shadows.”

Alex and Jackie walked over to Michael and the three of them got close together. Luke walked over to them and the four of them orbed to the manor. They arrived at the manor and by the condition it was in, it was obvious that someone has and probably still was there. Michael walked over to the front door and saw that it was still locked from when Alex left that morning.

“Warlocks. They’re looking for the Book.”

Jackie looked over at Luke when he said this and in a split second, ran up the stairs to the attic. Alex, Luke and Michael followed close behind.

Up in the attic, two warlocks were approaching the book carefully. As the first one reached over to touch it, he felt a sort of energy pushing away from him making it challenging to grab the book.

The first one turned to the other and said, “We won’t be able to touch it. It protects itself with some kind of power.”

“Yeah, you’re right. The Sisters warned us about this. We have to find out away to break this power and since the book is connected to the witches, we’ll have to find a way to break the power of three first.”

“How are we supposed to do that?”

“We have to find a way to turn the witches against each other.” The warlock turned to his shadow and said, “Go. Report this to The Source. He has to find a way to break the power of three, before we can grab the book.” His shadow left his side and disappeared.

“Maybe, maybe we don’t.” The first warlock reached for the book and tried to grab it. The closer he got, the harder it was to reach for it. Finally, he broke through the field and got hold of the book.

“See, told you.” He started laughing, mockingly at the other warlock. After about ten seconds of holding it, the book turned into white light and transported itself to another location of the room.

Jackie reached the landing that led to the attic door. She went over to where the attic door would be. Alex locked the door whenever he left the manor and the warlocks would have had to break through it. She started to go in when she saw the warlocks standing by the bookstand, but Luke grabbed her as he reached her just in time. Alex and Michael followed close behind him. “Guess I need a new door.”

“Jackie, you can’t just walk in there. You need some sort of plan.”

She struggled trying to break free of Luke’s hold. “Luke, let go. They’re gonna grab the book.” Luke let her go and she went into the room. Michael followed her and Alex went in after that. Luke shook his head and had no choice but to also enter.

The first warlock turned around and saw the three of them standing in front of him. He tapped the other warlock’s arm and said, “Look. It’s the witches.” The other warlock turned around and had a worried look on his face.

Michael turned to look at Alex behind Jackie. “What do we do now?”

“I don’t know. Just keep your eyes peeled.”

The warlock that had a worried look on his face suddenly smiled and swung his arm around to release an energy ball. The first warlock stretched his hands out in front of him to use a telekinetic ability. Michael was thrown back into a wall. Alex managed to freeze the ball headed for him but because of the distraction with Michael, he lost his concentration and the energy ball unfroze. It made contact and he was also thrown back into the wall. The second warlock swung his arm around again and threw an energy ball at Jackie. Michael saw it and called it to himself. He motioned his hand so that the energy ball would redirect and hit the one who threw it. The warlock was hit and turned to fire. The first warlock looked at his accomplice burning and then turn to nothing. He faced to look at Alex, Michael and Jackie. Michael got up from the floor and outstretched his hand as a way of warning the warlock. At this, the warlock blinked and left the manor.

Jackie went over to the bookstand and saw the book wasn’t there. “They took it. They got the Book Of Shadows.” She bowed her head and failure.

Alex looked around to see the damage done to the attic and saw the book in one of the dark corners of the room, giving off a light. He walked over to it and saw the triquetra glowing. He picked it up and walked over to the bookstand to put it back. “No they didn’t.”

Jackie looked up and saw the book in Alex’s hands. She took the book from him and put it back on the stand. “But why? They had a perfect chance of taking it and they didn’t. What happened Luke?”

“The book is protected by magic. Whenever a force of darkness comes by it, it’ll transport itself to a safe location.”

Michael looked confused. “So the book has it’s own power?”

“No. The books powers are connected to yours. And since the three of you are half white-lighter, the book was able to teleport to a different location.”

Jackie walked over to behind the bookstand and started flipping through the pages of the book. Alex walked over next to her. She was turning the pages with frustration.

“What are you looking for? I don’t think we have to worry about that other warlock.”

“No. I’m looking for the demon in my premonition. Problem is, I don’t really remember what he looked like. Maybe grams could help. I don’t know what I’m looking for.” The book closed to the front cover and the pages began to flip. After about three minutes of flipping cover to cover, the book stopped and ended up closed. “Look for the Smart Spell."

Michael looked over at Luke. “The Smart Spell? Why would we need that?”

“It’ll help you search through the book more accurately. Just look for it.”

Jackie looked through the book and came across the spell Luke said. “What do I do?”

“Cast it.”

“Spirits send the words,
From all across the land
Allow me to absorb them,
Through the touch of either hand
For 24 hours from 7 to 7,
I will understand all meaning
Of the words from here to heaven.”

After she felt the spell take effect, she looked over at Luke. “Now what?”

“Place your hands over the book and ask it what you need to find.” Jackie raised both her hands and placed them above the book. She asked the book to tell her who was the demon in her premonition but nothing happened. Michael walked up to her and said, “Try asking it in a from of a spell.” She took a deep breath and began casting:

Guided spirits I seek your charity
Lend me your focus and clarity
Who is the demon I cannot find
Answer me that and calm my mind

The book started flipping again and stopped on a page with the picture of a demon. “That’s him.”

Andras

The Spirit Of Rage
Uses anger as a portal to enrage his victims until they commit a grevious act of violence. Although the rage leaves the victim after the act is commited, the violence usually serves a greater purpose, making Andras a powerful foe. The Spirit of Rage has used his abilities in incidents that held for decades and redefined countries. In addition, due to the insidious nature of his work, Andras can be very difficult to detect. He also has the ability to possess his victims.

--- The Source’s Chambers:

“They failed. Your warlocks proved to be a round of training for the ‘Charmed Ones’.” The woman standing near The Source began to chuckle. “We knew. We went through all of that. They should have listened to our guidance.”

The Source turned to look at her. She was tall, slim and had dark her that ran down to her shoulders. Her eyes were dark and she wore a black dress. “They were worth nothing. But it wasn’t a complete lost. That warlock they vanquished was out to get me. Ever since I became Source he was always challenging my authority and formed factions against me.”

“That warlock never had a chance against you. The witch vanquished him single handedly after only being one for a week.”

She kissed him passionately. True love was present even in these dark beings. “We will destroy them. The Rowe Coven will never be able to defeat us.”
