Lynn and Diane smile at the 5 young men in their care, "First thing we do is figure out which one of you has which powers." Lynn states.
"How are you going to do that?" Joey asks.
"We use the Book." JC states, rubbing the Pentacle on the cover of the Book.
"Ok. But how?" Justin looks from JC to his mom to Diane.
"First." Chris starts, "I'd like to know, if you can explain, why Lance and Justin seem to be getting their powers earlier than I did." Chris looks at the two women. "Do you know?"
Lynn and Diane smile at each other and then Diane begins to explain, "Lance and Justin are getting their powers early for two reasons."
"And they are?" JC asks. He finally realizes that Lance has practically climbed into his lap and gently extricates himself. He slides onto the floor and directly in front of Lynn.
"Well," Lynn begins. "The first reason is, because they are full witches. Both their fathers and mothers were full fledge witches. I'm assuming the three of you are only half, in Chris' case and 3/4 in yours and Joey's." Lynn leans forward and places a hand on JC's shoulder, "Although I'm thinking you could actually be a full witch. There is something different about you son."
"So, Lance and Justin are full witches?" Chris asks. "How? Oh, nevermind. How do you know we're not?" He motions to Joey, JC and himself.
"Because if you were, well....There are ways of knowing, trust me." Diane says, sliding into JC's spot behind Lance.
"Ok, mom." Lance states, squirming from his mother's grasp and following JC to the floor. "Stop with the cryptic crap and start talking. Both of you seem to think we need a crash course in training, so stop with the beating around the bush and start explaining how you seem to know so much about all of us, when we've just met."
"Alright son," Diane pats Lance's shoulder. "We know you and Justin are full witches because, well...You give off a different vibe than the other three."
"What? Please tell me you are kidding." Justin states, "There has got to be a better way than that."
"Relax Justin, they're just messing with you." JC says, smiling at the younger boy. "Although when Lance walked in I did feel some type of change. It was wierd, I couldn't even begin to explain it."
Lynn smirks, "Did any of the rest of you notice it?"
"Yeah," Four voices answer.
"But," JC starts, "There are other ways of knowing too. And I'm sure it's not just becuase you (he motions to Lynn and Diane) know who the father's are. So please enlighten us, so we will know when we come across others."
"Very well," Lynn looks to Diane, "Alright we'll explain. I'll start. First off, it is becuase we know their fathers. Also, and I believe you all 'have' noticed this, they are coming into their powers earlier than you did. Except maybe JC. (She looks directly into JC's eyes and he looks away, blushing profusely.) There is also the vibe that Diane spoke of. You may not believe us now, but this 'vibe' will be your best defense against black witches. Once you learn the differences between the vibes you'll be...Well...You'll be much better off."
"So...Now that we know that Lance and Justin are full witches and how you know that. How do you know that Chris, JC and I aren't full witches? How do we know the different vibes?" Joey questions, now that the information is actually starting to sink in. "And why do you think that JC is different? Does he give off a different vibe than we do?"
"Well, actually...Chris is easy. He stated up front that he didn't get his powers until he was 21. That's when half witches get their powers. You seem to be coming into yours earlier than that but not at a young age so that means you're more than likely only 3/4's and JC...Yes, he gives off an extremely different vibe than the rest of you. I've felt the vibe before, just can't place it." Lynn states.
"You know. I've only felt that vibe one other time and that was when my white...." Diane looks up at Lynn and they both get up and walk out of the room.
"Ok, sooo...What the hell was that all about?" Justin states, scooting next to JC on the floor. "I knew you were something special when I met you, but it must really be something to make them both leave the 5 of us alone to go discuss this."
"I just wish they'd tell me. I can't stand all this secret stuff." JC mumbles as he continues to rub the Book. "I wonder if the answers are in here?"
"I'm sure 'some' of them are in there JC," Lynn replies as the two women return, "But the answers you're looking for aren't in there. Do you know who your parents are?"
"Yeah, Karen and Roy Chasez. You've met them before."
"No JC...I mean your real parents."
"Mom...What are you saying?" Justin yells. "How could you say something like that?"
JC puts his head in his hands and whispers, "It's ok Justin." He looks up and meets Lynn's eyes again, "Yes. But I've only seen my mother once."
"That's what I was afraid of. Do you remember the time that you spent with her?" Lynn inquires.
"Yeah, it was kinda awkward. I got this strange vibe from her. But now that I think about it, it was about the same as what I get from you two?"
"And you've never met your real father?" Diane continues.
"No. My mother didn't know how to contact him. Said he'd left her life along time ago."
"Hmmm. Well...I don't know if you boys are ready for this but, you really need to know." Lynn begins. "JC seems to be, from what we (she looks to Diane) can figure out, JC is half witch and half white lighter."
"Half what?" Lance asks. "What on earth is a white lighter?"
"Well...It's kinda hard to explain..." Lynn starts.
As Lynn begins a bright white glow begins to imminate from the back of the couch, getting brighter and brighter until finally a figure appears in the center of it. The white light begins to disipate and leave a man that none of the people in the room have ever seen before.
The five young boys jump to their feet to do what they can to defend the two women in the room, who hadn't budged from their spots.
The man turns to the five boys and states, "Hello. I'm Darren. I'm your white lighter."
"I've seen you before," JC states. "In my dreams."
"Yes, that would mean you're the one that sees into the future. Good. (He looks to Lance.) You. Come here."
Lance looks at the 4 others in the room and then at his mother who is smiling from ear to ear, then slowly and carefully approaches the man.
Darren takes Lance's hands into his own, "You will have the power of vision. You will have premonitions. Sometimes they will be very vivid, sometimes not. You will learn how to use them to your advantage. You, Curly, come here."
Justin immediately gets up and holds his hands out, "You will have a wonderful gift. It will save you and your friends a great many times. You will have the power to stop movement in all things except yourselves."
"You, with the wierd hair. Your turn."
Chris approaches him, "I already know about mine."
"Just come here, I need to make sure," He takes Chris' hands, "Yes, you have the power of movement. Be careful with this. Now for you." He looks to Joey, "Come."
Joey gets up and extends his hands out.
"You will be important to these boys. You have the power to heal."
He looks around the room and then his eyes land on JC, "You...you are different than the rest. Come here."
JC gets up and follows Darren into the kitchen, "Why did we come in here? You didn't do this with the others."
Darren grasps JC's wrists and looks deep into the blue orbs of his eyes, "Yes...It's as I thought. You are one of us, but not."
"Ummm, could you..." JC trails off as he looks into the brown eyes of the other man and begins to hear his voice but his lips are not moving. "What the..."
"Use your mind. You have more than one power and you've known this for a while haven't you?"
"Ummm. Yes. It started when I was really young. I don't even remember for sure anymore. I've always heard the voices, just started to tune them out."
"You must learn to filter the voices. These are the thoughts of others. This will be most helpful in the future. You are stronger than the others, you must lead them well." Darren turns and heads back into the room with the others, "Come, we are not done. I have more to tell you."
"What? It's not enough that I get flashes of the future, and have a million voices in my head?"
"No, there is more." Darren comes into the room and motions for JC to sit between Joey and Justin on the floor, "You sit here, you are stronger when you are with these two." He turns his attention to Chris and Lance, "You two must try to stick together. You are stronger together." He looks and Lynn and Diane, "You know who they are don't you?"
Both women nod their heads while 5 boys look on in confusion.
"What? What do you know about us mom?" Justin asks.
"Patience son. He'll explain."
Darren stands in front of the 5 boys and begins his explanation, "You five all have something that no other witch I've ever encountered has had. You have the power of the elements. Do you understand what that means?"
"No." Four voices ring. All four who answered turn to look at the fifth.
"We have the power of the elements guys. It's not that hard to comprehend. Lynn already explained what the elements were. How do you know we have these powers? And why hasn't any other witch ever had them?" JC asks, looking to Darren.
"I'm not sure which ones you will have at the moment but....if the colors in your eyes are an indication then this is the way it should happen. You (He motions to JC.) will have the power of water. You (indicates Justin) will have the power of air. You (indicates Joey) the power of Spirit. You (indicates Chris) the power of earth. And you (indicates Lance) the power of fire. But this is not your greatest power." He looks at each boy and then takes a deep breath, "When the five of you are together and at full strength, you will be unbeatable. This is a dangerous thing for those who worship the Source and his evil ways. They will come after you but not when you are together. You must always try to stay with one another. Try not to go out alone until your powers are at full strength."
"What do you mean, 'Unbeatable'? We're just a bunch of kids who like to sing. What danger are we to anyone?" Chris asks.
"I have a feeling you'll be finding out sooner than any of us are ready for." Darren states. "We must begin your training at once."
"Training will have to wait. They need to be getting back to the warehouse for more rehearsals," a new voice cuts in. "Don't worry, I'll watch over them while they're there."
