JC's Story - Chapter Eleven

"Yes, I'm here to see Mallory," JC says.

"I'm also here to see Mallory," Kevin says as he glares at JC.

"You. You're here to see Mallory? Then that means? Oh. Shit. We're brothers!" JC exclaims.

"What? Oh, shit! God, what did I do to deserve this shit?" Kevin complains. "What the hell are you two snickering about?"

"Who, us?" Chris and Howie snicker at the same time.

"No the two idiots behind you. Yeah, you. What the hell is so funny?" JC says as he looks around the group of guys, who are all snickering by now.

"What you don't see the resemblance? Look at you two. You're standing there like a couple of stallions getting ready to fight to the death. I can't believe we never put it together before." AJ says between laughs.

"You guys have to admit that you have an awful lot in common. No, Jayce. Don't look at me like that. You do. Think about it. You both have the high cheekbones, dark hair, light eyes, you're both too serious for your own good, you both love to sleep, you both love Chinese food, you both play the piano, and you can both sing really well. Why is it so hard to believe?" Lance asks.

"Look albino boy." Kevin starts.

"Don't call him that." JC huffs.

"Look Lance. I didn't say that we couldn't be brothers. All I'm saying is that I can't believe that out of all the people in the world I had to be related to someone in NSYNC. Why? What did I do to deserve such a curse?" Kevin says.

"Well, I'm sorry I'm such a curse on you. Maybe this wasn't such a great idea, but as long as I'm here I would at least like to meet my sisters. Do you mind? Then I'll be out of your life. At least personally. Don't want to inconvenience Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys. God forbid." JC said sarcastically.

"Gentlemen," Mallory interrupted. "This is a place of business. If you have a problem, you need to step outside. If you plan on staying in here you need to keep your voices down and stop arguing. Which of you are JC and Kevin? //They step towards her.// Would you please come with me? Your sisters are waiting? Helen, will you take these other gentlemen to the conference room? I suggest you all get along. We can not allow loud voices in here. There are too many frightened children that come in here for that kind of behavior to be tolerated. //She pointedly looks at JC and Kevin.// Is that understood?"

"Yes ma'am." Ten voices chorus.

****With the boys****

"So what do you guys think is going on in that room?" Brian asks.

"I don't know man. I don't hear any yelling, so it must be going pretty well." Joey answered.

//Chris and Howie were off in corner talking quietly.//

"So how long has that been going on?" Nick asks looking towards Chris and Howie.

"Since the last award show at least." Justin answered. "You guys didn't know about them?"

"No," AJ stated a little quickly. "I mean. Yeah. That's cool with me." //He blushes and looks away.//

"So what is up with you guys?" Brian asks. "You guys are in Germany right? How's it going over there? The girls jumping all over you or what?"

"Yeah," Lance answered. "They're just all over Justin and JC the rest of us are like chopped liver or something. We get what Jayce and Just throw away. Except for Joey. He could charm the pants off a rock if he wanted to."

"Really?" AJ smirked. "You'll have to show me your technique. It must be pretty good."

"I think Lance was being a tad sarcastic there AJ," Howie inters the conversation. "Although maybe you could learn how to do your charming a little more subtly. You are usually so up front and obvious."

"Maybe hanging out with these guys you'll learn to be a gentleman." Brian states with a smile directed towards Justin.

"Well. I think we should make JC and Kevin hang out together a bit this week. They really need to work through all the hostility they have towards each. We should all stay at my house and just bond. Maybe Lou won't through such a fit about all of us taking so much time off if we are together. Perhaps even do an appearance or two together." Lance said quietly.

"What is with you man? No wonder JC likes you, he's the dad and you're the mom. We can't mess around even the littlest bit. I like your idea though. I could handle spending time in that big ass house you got Bass. Do you think Jayce'll go on another cooking spree like the last time?" Chris asks.

"Are you kidding? He just found out that he is related to Kevin Richardson. They hate each other and you want to know if JC's gonna go on a cooking spree. Didn't he say that he only cooks when he is stressed out? That boy is gonna be so stressed out we're gonna be feedin the entire neighborhood." Joey interjects.

"What are you guys talking about?" Nick asks.

"When we home last time. Well, that was when JC found out that he was adopted and he couldn't sleep. He ended up cooking a feast. We had more food than we could have eaten in a week." Justin explains. "When he gets upset, he cooks, and cooks, and cooks. It's a good thing he knows what he's doing because I would really have hated to have to throw all that food out."

"So he cooks huh?" Nick asks.

"Yeah. So what of it?" Lance asks a little defensively.

"Nothing. Kevin does too when he's nervous or stressed. I guess that is just one more thing they have in common. I wouldn't mind meeting the sisters and see if they are like those two or if they are all laid back and fun." Nick answers.

"Boy what I wouldn't give to be in that room right now." Chris comments.

****In the room with Kevin, JC and the girls****

"I don't know. All I know is that I would much rather meet them without a bunch of other people around." Alexis comments.

"Me too. I just want to meet them first. Then maybe we could meet all their friends. First things first you know." Ashlyn infers.

"Ladies," Mallory says as she enters the room. "I would like you to meet your brothers. This is Kevin and JC. Now boys I expect you to get along and no fighting. Remember what I told you out front. Let me know and I'll have Helen bring your friends in. Just pick up that phone and dial 1. It will connect straight to my office."

"Thank you." JC says quietly.

"Hi." The girls all chorus together.

"Hi, I'm Kevin and this is JC."

"Josh, my name is Joshua."

"Right, whatever." Kevin says.

"Look. Can't we just set aside our differences and get along for the sake of our sisters? I really don't want to fight with you." JC states.

"Fine. Don't think this changes anything between us though. I still think you guys are riding our coattails." Kevin quips.

"Look, Kevin. We are going to have to get along sooner or later especially if Howie and Chris stay together." (Oh shit. I hope he don't freak out. Shit. Shit.)

"Yeah. You noticed that too, huh? How long have they been together anyway? Do you know?" Kevin asks.

"Sometime around the last award show we were all at. We should probably but this conversation on the back burner for now. We have sisters to meet." JC answers.

"Um, excuse us? We hate to interrupt this little get together you guys are having. Obviously you two know each other so how about you tell us a little something about yourselves?" Allison states a little perturbed.

"Well," Kevin begins. "I'm Kevin Scott Richardson. I'm 25. I grew up in Lexington KY. I'm 6' and I sing for a living. Well, I'm trying to anyway. I'm in a group called the Backstreet Boys and we hit it pretty well in Germany and now we're trying to break through over here."

"Great. We have a wannabe famous brother. What about you?" Alexis says, as she looks JC over. "You look a bit familiar. Have I met you before somewhere?"

"No. I don't think so. I'm Joshua Scott Chasez, I'm 20, and I grew up in Bowie MD until I was 14, and then I moved to Florida. I became a regular on a show called The New Mickey Mouse Club...."

"That's why you look so familiar. I used to watch that all the time." Alexis interrupts.

"Yeah? Anyway. I was on that for a few years then the show got cancelled. Now I'm signed with the same guy that is helping get Kevin's group going and we have been touring and recording in Europe. We're here for a week and then we have to go back to Germany to finish recording our first album and our tour." JC says turning 5 different shades of red as he talks.

"What about you girls? Tell us about yourselves." Kevin states.

The girls look at each other and then finally Allison says, "I'm Allison Emily Scott, I guess I'm the oldest at 26. I was also the only one that wasn't adopted by the family that I was living with. I own a very successful restaurant in Dallas TX."

"I'm Alexis Kathleen Jorgensen, I'm 24, and I'm going to college to become a lawyer."

"I'm Ashlyn Sarah Williams, I'm 22, and I've been going to college forever. When I graduate I'm hoping I'll be a doctor."

"So that makes you the little brother then JC," I guess I'll have to be nice to you at least around the girls." Kevin says sarcastically.

"Oh come on Kevin. What is it with you two? Why do you dislike him so much?" Ashlyn asks.

"I don't dislike him. I just don't like the way his group came about." Kevin stated.

"Good. Then as long as we're all in the same city for a week and you two are familiar with the area, perhaps you could take us to a few places and show us around." Allison suggests.

"That sounds like a great idea. Hey, Jayce do you think the others are still alive in that room Mallory put them in? Maybe we should let them meet the three coolest girls known to man." Kevin smiles.

"Man, I don't know if I want them jokers meeting my sisters." JC jokes.

"Don't be talkin about the Boys that way."

"I wasn't talkin about your Boys. I was talking about Chris, Justin, and Joey."

"I see you conveniently left Lance out of that line up. Why's that?" Kevin observes.

"Because Lance will be the perfect southern gentleman that he always is." JC says proudly.

"So bring them on in here. We want to meet them," Alexis says.

Kevin walks over to the phone on the wall and dials Mallory's office and lets her know that they are all ready to meet the gang. He then turns around and says, "They're on their way. Are we sure we want to subject them to those guys? I think I saw a back door when we were coming in."

"What? You trying to diss us or something?" Justin asks as the group comes in.

Joey and AJ immediately smile and start trying to charm the girls. Lance and Brian hang to the back of the group. Justin and Nick just smile and stand off to the side. Again Chris and Howie have managed to secure two seats together and sit quietly ||I know this isn't exactly normal behavior for Chris but I'm working on it.||

The girls all kind of look from one boy to the other and then retreat behind Kevin and JC. JC speaks up, "Guys could you all please just sit down? All the talking at once is kinda making the girls a bit nervous. Thanks. Now. Guys I'd like you to meet Allison, Alexis and Ashlyn. Girls this is starting with the guy with the long hair and working our way around the table. Howie Dorough, Chris Kirkpatrick, Alexander 'AJ' McClean, Joseph Fatone, Jr., Lance Bass, Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, and Justin Timberlake."
