JC's Story - Chapter Seventeen

The rest of the week is spent with JC and Kevin contacting their private investigator, Richard Anthony, and then getting to know their sisters a little better. At the end of the week the girls all head back to their respective homes, Kevin and the Backstreet Boys head out on tour, and JC and the rest of Nsync head back to Germany.

****Six Month Later****

ring, ring

"Hello?"

"Hello? Is this Joshua Chasez?"

"Yes. Who is this?"

"This is Richard Anthony."

"Yeah, and... Oh, the private investigator. What can I do for you?"

"Well. I would have called your brother, since he is the one that I have been dealing with as of late, but I couldn't get through to him. I kept getting an error message that the number was no longer in use. "

"Ok, well, he had to get his number changed. To many people had figured it out and he was getting all types of strange calls. So what do you want him for? Is there anything I can do for you?"

"Well....It seems I've found your mother."

"You have! Where is she! When can we meet her! How is she! Does she..."

"Whoa. Slow down there son." He goes on to explain where she is and what is going on.

JC sits down on a nearby chair and takes a deep breath.

Lance walks into the room, puts a hand on JC's shoulder and says, "Are you ok, Josh? Who was on the phone?"

"That was the private investigator that Kevin hired. They found my mom. I need to call Kevin and the girls. Could you give me a few minutes?"

"Sure, whatever you need babe." Lance leaves the room, glancing over his shoulder with a concerned look on his face as he closes the door gently."

JC calls the girls and explains to them about their mother. He then calls Kevin. They all agreed that it would be better to wait a little while before going to see her and decided that they would all go separately so as not to cause a big media frenzy since Backstreet had finally started getting a little recognition in the states.

****Three Months Later****

JC got off the plane and into the cab that was to take him to see his mother. It had been difficult to get the time off to make this trip. He was not really looking forward to it and what lay ahead of him. He didn't remember this woman at all and was starting to wish that he had brought Lance with him. (I miss him already.)

The cab stopped and the driver said, "Do you want me to wait?"

"Yes, please. I shouldn't be too long."

JC gets out of the cab and walks through the gate. He walks down the path, clutching the flowers he had brought tightly. (What do you say to someone you don't remember?)

He continued down the path until he reached his destination. A smooth white headstone with an angel engraved on it. The stone read:

Anya Marie Scott
April 11, 1948 - August 22, 1976
Beloved Mother and Wife

JC knelt before the grave and stared at it for what seemed like several hours.

Finally he spoke, "What do I say? I never got the chance to know you. I never got the chance to say I love you. I never got the chance to say thank you for giving me life. I never got to do allot of things. I can't say that I will miss you because I never got the chance to get to know you. I have no memories of you at all. I do have a few pictures of you that I will keep with me always. I wish I had met you and that we could have been together. I am sorry that you never got to see what happened to any of us. Have you been watching over us? Do you know what has become of your children? Well, I will let you in on our lives. Allison has become a fine woman, she is running her own restaurant not far from here. Alexis is still in school, she will be graduating in a year as a doctor. Ashlyn has a few more years of school and then she will be a lawyer. Kevin is doing great. His dreams are finally coming true. He and the guys are finally getting famous here in the states. He is a wonderful singer momma. I wish you could hear him, I bet you do hear him though don't you? As for me, I am in love with a wonderful man and it looks like we may actually start touring here in the states. I am so looking forward to being here for awhile. I brought you some flowers momma. They are carnations, red for love. I hope you like them. I should probably leave now. The cab driver is waiting for me and I have to get back to Orlando. I will try to visit as much as possible."

JC rises from the ground and heads back to the cab. A slight breeze blows past and ruffles his hair as he gets in the cab. "I may have never known you momma, but I still love you."
