JC's Story - Chapter Seven

"Ok, you may want to sit down for this," Roy starts.

"JC. We have something that we need to tell you. It is a tad important. Please, nobody interrupt [everybody looks to Chris] until we are done." Karen begins. "

What, what the hell is she talking about?

Wow, that wasn't exactly what I was expecting. Look at Jayce. Maybe if I move a little closer he won't feel like he just got hit in the stomach. Ok, good. Now maybe, oh what the hell. Grab the man's hand. He needs some support.

Lance is so sweet. Did he just move closer to me? Cool. Wait, what is he doing now. He's holding my hand. God that feels good. Ok mom, finish this crazy story. Where on earth did this crock come from?

{Justin: Damn, JC don't look so good.}

{Joey: Shit. That came out of nowhere. What the hell is going on with those two? Why is Lance holding his hand?}

{Chris: Holy, crap. What do they mean JC isn't truly there son? Ok, what the hell is going on over there? I knew something was up with them two. They've spent way too much time together. Wait til I tell Howie. That man owes me money and a blowjob next time I see him.}

"You see, when you were six years old you came to live with us. You are adopted JC." Roy finished.

"What? What do you mean, I'm adopted? When?"

"Like Roy said, when you were six years old you came to live with us. All we know about your life before coming to us is that your father and mother never fed you and you were raised by your older sister. You had been under the supervision of the state for about a year when they took you away. This is what they told us: You and your brother and three sisters were living in a trailer. Your dad worked two shifts and your step mom couldn't work because she had arthritis. Your oldest sister raised you or tried because both your parents were alcoholics. Every penny that your dad made they drank it away, leaving the five of you to fend for your selves. When you came to live with us you told us you had never celebrated your birthday and for Christmas you got one present that came from your social worker." Karen finished.

"Why are you telling me this now? Why not before?" JC asked.

"We were waiting for your 21st birthday. That way if you wanted to try to find your birth parents you could legally do so. We decided to tell you know because of the group. We didn't want anybody going to the papers and saying they were your parents and then you finding out that way. We figured it would be better if it came from us." Roy stated.

"Well, thank you for putting the group first." JC yelled as he stormed from the room.

{Karen: Well he took it better than I thought he would.}

{Roy: Someone should really go after him. I guess I will. Doesn't look like Karen is really up for it.}

Roy rises as if to follow JC. Lance puts his hand on Roy's shoulder, "I'll go. I don't think he is ready for another discussion with you right now. Let him calm down and let this register. He'll be back."

"Thanks Lance." Roy states.

"I only have one question, " JC questions, from the bottom of the stairs, startling everyone in the room. Are Tyler and Heather adopted too, or are they truly your children?"

"They are ours." Karen says, "but so are you. Just because we adopted you doesn't mean we love you any less."

JC turns around and heads back to his room. Lance follows quietly.
