Miracle In My Life - Chapter Two

That Night at the Regency 8pm

"So," I start. "You guys think I'm crazy don't you?"

"What? Why would we think that?" DJ asked with a smile.

"Just because you got the hots for a member of a boyband?" Rodney smirked.

Stan just gets up and walk to the door, "Your new love interest has just arrived. Let's go."

We all stand up and gather ourselves as Nsync enters the lobby of the hotel. There is a mad dash of young women before they reach us. They all smile for the girls, sign a few autographs and continue to casually make their way over to us. Trying not to draw attention to the fact that they were making their way over to another group that the girls might want to mob.

As the girls start to wonder away Joey makes his way to within hearing distance of DJ, "Hey, you guys ready before this gets out of hand? We only brought enough security for us but if those girls see you we're in trouble."

"Why?" Stan stated. "Those girls wouldn't have given a rats ass that we were here. They were after you guys and you all know it."

"Oh, yeah. And you guys don't fill the stands when you do concerts?" Justin joked.

"Nope, they suck." Chris teased. "We are the only ones that can sell out a concert. Haven't you heard?"

"Oh, for the love of God, shut up." JC states with a blush.

Lance glares at us all like we'd lost our minds and moved closer to JC when I glanced in his direction. "We better get going. I still have work to do tonight."

"Oh, Lance," JC shakes his head. "Can't you not work for one night?" JC looks a bit flustered and irritated.

"Yeah man, it's just one night. Why don't you spend some time with your ma…" Joey cuts off as he realizes what he's almost stated.

Justin elbows him and JC and Lance both give him a glare that would have killed anyone else. Chris is too busy laughing to care that Joey just dropped the biggest secret the group had on us.

JC blushed and mumbled something about not going now. He started heading for the door before the rest of the guys realized what he was doing he was back in the car and heading for the hotel that they stayed in.

"Great, good job Joe." Justin growled.

"Damn it Joey." Chris yelled. "The first time we get his ass out of a hotel in six months and you gotta go and blow it."

Lance glares at Joey, "Besides, you know we haven't been…" He blushes and stops his comment.

"Ok," I state. "Should someone go after him?"

"No, he won't talk to any of us now. Gotta give him some time to calm down." Justin explains.

"So, we gonna party or what?" Joey asks.

"Are you sure…" I trail off as Stan grabs my arm.

"Man, they know him better than we do, let him go." He says.

"But…"

"Mark!" DJ states. "You don't even know where they're staying. Come on. We'll try to get it out of one of them and then you can go check on him."

"I'm going back to the hotel. I've got work to do." Lance states, with a tone of annoyance.

Chris grabs his arm, "Man, you need to lighten up. It was your fault anyway."

"I know," Lance growls. "I'm not talking about this in front of them. They don't need to hear about this. We can't trust them, we barely know them. How do we know they aren't going to say something to someone?"

"Man, they're in the same business Lance. Not everyone wants to ruin us. Get a fucking grip." Chris warns. "You're not going back to the hotel and hurting him anymore either. You're gonna leave him alone."

"But I need…."

"No, you're gonna leave him alone. You've caused him enough pain. I'm not letting you near him without one of us around."

"Fine, whatever. You can't keep him away from me forever."

"No, but I can try. And it's not just me that's trying either. You fucked up, now deal with it and leave the man alone."

"I can't. He's in my blood. I still love him."

"You should of thought of that a long time ago. Now leave him be. We got some partying to do."

"Hey," I yelled across the lobby, "You two joining us or what?"

"Yeah, we're coming," Chris yells back.

He grabs Lance's arm and drags him out of the hotel behind the rest of us.

"So," Rodney starts. "Where are we off to?"

"Oh, I thought we'd just hit this club down the street." Joey answers, "At least til all the wimps run back to the hotel, then us partiers are heading down to the city for some fun."

"Well you can count me out of that group. I got some things to take care of tonight before I get to bed." I stated with a glance at DJ.

"Damn, man." Justin stated. "You sound like scoop over there."

"Nah," Murphy defends. "He's not going back to the hotel to work. He's got other plans."

All of a sudden all eyes were on me, "Well, what's say we get to that club?" I say blushing.

They all nod and drop the subject. Joey smiles at me, "Right this way then gentlemen."

Justin lags behind us a bit, then all of a sudden he's right next to me and whispering in my ear, "You got a hot date tonight?"

I look at him with a puzzled look on my face, "Why do you say that?"

"Because your friends said you got other plans tonight, just figured you had a date."

"No, just gotta take care of something. It's not work related or date related."

"Ah, that's cool man. I can understand."

We finally made our way into the smoke filled club. Normally I'm a clubbing kinda guy but my mind wasn't on being at this club. My mind was on figuring out what the hell these guys were trying to hide from us. I kept watching Lance for some kind of sign as to if what I was thinking was true but the man never left the booth once we got to the club. I had managed to dance with a couple of girls before DJ grabbed my arm and drug me over to the bar.

"Ok, this is what I've managed to get out of the talkative one. Joey, I think that's his name. Anyway, that one (he points to Lance) and the one you like used to date exclusively. Then something really bad happened and now the guys, the other three, won't let Lance near the one you like. He's back at their hotel, here's his room information (he hands me a peace of paper). Just don't do anything stupid and don't let any of these guys catch you near him. They seem awfully protective of him for some reason. I couldn't get any more info out of him."

"Thanks man. Tell them I went back to the hotel to take care of that `something' would you?"

"You got it man. Be careful."

I made my way out of the crowded club and to the closest cab. I gave him the hotel information and sat back.
