Miracle In My Life - Chapter Twentynine

I look up at the two expectant faces and immediately flee back into the bathroom, "Shit. How the hell am I supposed to tell them this? Neither one is going to believe me. God, how am I gonna explain this to my mom and dad, let alone the rest of the world."

"Josh?" Mark knocks gently on the door.

//Go away. I'm not ready to deal with this yet.// "What?" I ask, like I had no idea what he wanted.

"Josh. Please come out of there? What's going on?"

"Josh, it's Heather."

//Duh? Like I couldn't tell that.//

"What's the matter? Come on bro. You can't stay in there all day. I'll tell Mark why I'm really here. I'm willing to bet that he'll be able to figure out why you won't come out of there and face him."

//Bitch// "You wouldn't do that to me. Would you? Just let me think a few minutes and I'll come out."

I take a couple of deep breaths to calm myself a bit and then open the door again. "Ok, I'm coming out." I walk out, keeping my eyes on the floor.

Heather streaks past me and into the bathroom, "Where are they? Did you do them right?" She leans out the door, "Well....?"

"God Heather, calm down. I'd like to tell Mark before the rest of the world finds out if you don't mind."

"So they were positive huh? Cool. I'm gonna go get mom, dad and Tyler. You want me to contact the guys and Johnny so you only have to explain this once?"

Mark grabs Heather as she tries to make a run for the door, "Whoa there sister. You're not leaving this house until I find out just exactly what the hell the two of you are talking about." He from Heather's smiling face to my forlorn one. He leads Heather to the couch and then returns to grab my hand. He gently pulls me over to the couch and tells me to sit on it at the opposite end as my sister. He then takes a seat on the coffee table in front of me. "Now, what is your crazy ass sister babbling about baby?"

He lifts my chin so that I have no choice but to look at him, although I continue to avoid eye contact. I close my eyes and in a shaky whisper reply, "I'm pregnant."

"What?" He asks. He shakes his head and asks again. "I don't think I heard you correctly. What did you say?"

I meet his eyes with mine, "I'm pregnant."

"Wha? How? It's impossible. Men can't get pregnant."

"Heather." I glance at my sister, "I think now would be a good time for you to go and get everyone. And yes, you need to gather the guys and Johnny. Mark can get the rest of his group and management. But I need to talk to him first."

"Sure, give him the scoop first. Figures. I'll be back in a bit. You better both be ready for one hell of an explanation when I get back." Heather gets up and leaves, tearing out of the driveway like she's being chased by the devil himself.

Mark glances out the window as she peels out the driveway, "Hope she don't kill someone." He turns back around and looks at me. I'm sitting with my head in my hands. "So, guess their little experiment worked huh?" He walks back over and takes my hands away from my face, "You know this is one hell of a miracle." I meet his gaze, "So you're ok with this?"

"Yeah. I'm not sure there's much either one of us can do about it now anyway. I don't mind though. I can't wait to see what the baby looks like. So how long before Section shows up?"

"I haven't told them yet. I really don't want to but don't think we have any choice."

Mark smiles, "What about Oversight? He seemed like he wanted to keep it from Operations if you actually became pregnant. Don't you think we should contact him?"

"I'm almost afraid to contact them Mark. What if they try to take the baby once it's born? I don't think I'd be all that willing to carry this child for 9 months and then never even get to see it. I've been a member of Section for way to long to trust them."

"How about we deal with all that when it and if we have to? Let's take this thing one day at a time. I'm thinking we're going to have our hands full in about an hour anyway." He leans over and kisses the top of my head, "How are you feeling though?"

I look up and smile at him, "Better, the queasy feeling is gone, but I'm still not eating anything. I could use something to drink though."

"Ok. You want juice or milk?" He asks as he makes his way into the kitchen.

"Juice would be good." I lean back on the couch and close my eyes.

"Here you go babe. I brought you some crackers just in case." He smiles and sits next to me. "Guess I better call the guys huh?"

"Yeah, might be a good idea." I mumble.

He calls DJ and tells him the news and asks if he'd spred the word. He hangs up the phone and returns tot he couch, "They'll be here tomorrow, so I guess we'll have to do this twice."

"Mmm." I lay down and place my head in his lap. We remain quiet while waiting for the entourage to show up.

Heather returns with a squeal of tires and slamming doors. When she enters the house Mark yells, "Damn girl. Could you make any more noise?"

"Sorry." She whispers as she realizes I'm still laying with my head in Mark's lap and my eyes closed, "I didn't realize he was asleep. Mom and dad are right behind me and the guys will all be here within the hour."

"That's cool. Let's just let him get as much rest as possible. He hasn't been getting much sleep for 'some' reason."

"Gee, can't imagine what that might be." Heather teases.

"You two do realize I'm awake. Right?" I ask as I open my eyes and make to get up.

Mark slides his arm up my arm, "You can stay there. It's just Heather. You don't have to get up yet."

"Thanks babe, I'm still beat." I smile up at him.

"Well, at least we know why you're so tired all the time."

"No, it's not because of the baby. It's because all we've done for the last week is lay in bed. I've been lazy and not working out. I can't do that or I'll be so out of shape when the baby does get here, I won't be able to do shit."

"So, not to butt in or anything, but when are you going to see a doctor?" Heather inquires.

"Sure Heather. I'll just go to the doctor's office and tell them I'm pregnant. Can you see their faces? Seriously, I'd get laughed right out of the building."

"Or thrown in the loony bin," Justin states as he and the rest of the guys walk in.

I jump up off Mark's lap and Heather and Mark both turn their heads to greet the guys.

"Justin!" Mark admonishes, "Nobody is throwing this fine ass in the loony bin. He's stayin right here with me."

"What makes you think Section isn't gonna have a horse over this? They are so gonna freak JC." Lance exclaims.

"Well, I for one, would like to say congratulations," Joey states as he comes over and wraps me up in his arms. "I'm happy for you and I'll help you in any way I can Jayce."

"Yeah, I'm with Joe." Chris states. "I only have one question."

"What's that Chris?" Mark asks.

"Well. Justin and Lance are throwing Jayce in the loony bin, you, Joe and I are supporting him right?"

"Yeah? Your point being?" Lance ventures.

"What the hell for? I mean did I miss something? You all know something I don't?"

"I just meant in general." Justin states. "He's crazy, certifiable. I can't see why they've let him stay out in the real world for as long as they have. I've been waiting for the men in white suits to show up for years."

Mark and I both look at Heather, "You didn't tell them?" I ask.

"Nope, not my secret to tell. Mom and dad just drove up too. I'll get the drinks. Guys, you might want to get comfortable. You're about to hear some very interesting news."

"Cool, can you get me some more juice sis?"

"Sure, any body else want anything?" She looks around the room. While everyone is yelling their drink requests mom and dad walk in and take a seat on the love seat after giving me a hug.

I look at Mark and then go back into the bathroom to see if the results are still there. //Mom isn't gonna believe this.// I walk back out and take a deep breath. //Man I seem to be doing this alot lately.//

"Mom, dad. I'd like you to know that you're gonna be grandparents." I smile, even it is an extremely nervous smile.

Mark gets up and walks up behind me, "Well, that was subtle baby."

I look over my shoulder at him and then at each of my parents.

"What? You mean you're gonna start a family so soon? I thought you two were just getting together. Who's the mother gonna be? Please tell me it's not gonna be Bobbee? You didn't Josh?" My mom rattles off.

"No, mom stop. Sit down. Let me explain."

"Ok." She sits back down. "Explain."

"No. Bobbee is not the mother. Yes, Mark and I are in a relatively new relationship but believe me, this whole thing is one hell of a surprise."

"So if it's not Bobbee..." My dad starts.

"Before you all start asking a bunch of questions let us explain what has happened, then we'll answer questions. Ok?" Mark states.

"Ok." The room chorus'.

I start with the meeting with Oversight, since my father is in section as one of the computer techs no one was really surprised except for Tyler and Heather by the time I'd finished my story. When I finished the story I handed my mom the results of the three pregnancy tests. "Just in case you didn't believe me." I smile at her and lean back against Mark's chest.

Mark tightens his grip around my waist and whispers, "I love you Joshua."

"I love you too Mark."

"Boys?" My dad starts, "What are you gonna do? It's not like you can just hide out in the house for the next year Joshua. People will want to know why you aren't making appearances."

"I know dad. We haven't had a lot of time to really deal with all this. We just found out ourselves, about 2 hours ago."

"Well. Guess you boys have enough to think about." He stands up, "You ready Karen?"

Mom looks at him like he's just grown a third head. "My baby is having a baby and you want me to just leave after finding this out. What the hell have you been smoking? I'm not going anywhere. I'm gonna stay right here and help them figure things out. You can leave if you want. I know you have a lot of work to do for 'Section' but our son is more important right now."

"Well." Joey states, getting up off the arm of the couch. "I gotta run. Brianna is teething. If you need anything or have any questions, feel free to call. I'm sure Kelly could answer most of your questions or she can get you the name of a doctor. Hers was very discreet, which was kinda nice."

"Thanks Joe. We're not quite sure what to do about that yet." I state. "But thanks for the offer."

The rest of the guys get up and make there hasty excuses, leaving me to deal with my mother, father, Tyler and Heather. //Thank God for Mark.//
