My Heart Is In Your Hands - Chapter Two

I demonstrated the routine that Darren had given me to show them. They all sat there and stared at me for what seemed like forever. Then finally Justin got up, went over to the CD player, "Show me again."

I did the routine again with him. He stopped me every once in a while to ask a question about the step and why it was this instead of that. I was starting to think he was the one that I was in need of impressing. Once the two of us had done the routine twice together Justin grabbed my arm, and pulled me over next to the cd player. I thought for sure this was when I'd be told, `Thanks, but no thanks.'

Justin reached over reset the cd and then leaned against the mirrors that lined the wall next to us. He nodded to the dance floor when I gave him this extremely puzzled look. While we were walking off the floor JC had gotten up and taken the starting position for the routine.

I stood there dumbfounded as he did the entire routine without one mistake. When he was done the rest of the guys looked to him. Justin walked over and the two of them talked quietly together for a few minutes. Justin turned around and said, "So what else you got? This isn't it is it?"

"Um…No…But I haven't really had access to any of your music other than your older stuff."

"What?" Lance blurts. "I sent Darren 4 copies of the new cd so he could get the stuff ready."

"Well, I don't know what he did with them but I never saw one copy." I defended.

"Relax guys," Chris yells, streaking across the room. "I got a copy he can have."

All the guys turned at looked at JC, "That's fine. Give him a copy. You got two days to get something original that we can use for "It's Gonna Be Me". He stated as he turned and walked towards his pile of clothes. "We're done here, right Johnny?"

"Yeah. You're done for now." Johnny answered.

"Great. I'll see you all tomorrow." JC stated as he walked out the door.

Lance turns to Justin, "Where's he off to in such a hurry. I thought he broke up with Bobbee?"

"What are you asking me for? He doesn't tell me shit anymore."

"He's going to the studio." Johny cut in, "He's still not happy with a couple of the songs."

"God the man is gonna drive himself crazy." Joey huffs.

"Oh for the love of God, we really need to get him a new love interest or we're never gonna get done with the next cd." Chris complains.

"Well, if it weren't for him, ya'll know we'd have never gotten this cd done. With all the crap that's been going on lately." Lance stated with a hint of admiration in his voice.

I just stood there and waited for someone to acknowledge that I was still there. Finally, Justin turned back around and said, "So…What do you do for fun? Other than work on dance steps?"

I look at them for a few minutes, see the glare coming from Joey, "Um… If you'll excuse me, I think I'll go work on some moves for these songs. Two days isn't a lot of time." I made my way out the door and to my car.

I got in my car and drove off. God, two days. How the hell am I gonna come up with a full dance routine for an entire song in two days when I have no idea what kind of dancers these guys are. Well, like Joey said, they're all over the internet. I wonder if I can get my hands on any videos of them where they're dancing.

I pulled into the nearest Tower Records just to see what I could find. I walked around and around and around but couldn't find anything. Finally, I gave up and left. I got back in my car and went down the road to the nearest Virgin Megastore. I walked in the door and two sales clerks immediately latched onto me.

"How can we help you," they both blurted at the same time.

I looked at them, "Well, I'm looking for any videos you have of Nsync."

They looked at each other, then looked back at me, "Why do you want their stuff?" One asked.

The other grabbed my arm, pulled me to the side, "Don't mind him. He's not a fan of theirs. He likes Eminem."

"Oh, really. How nice for him." I stated and looked over my shoulder at the other guy. "Jerk." I mumbled.

The one with me just giggled and said, "Come on and I'll show you what we have on Nsync. We don't have much in the way of official releases but we've got a couple unofficial videos."

"I need anything I can get that has them dancing in it." I said while glancing at the small collection of music videos.

"Oh, well in that case you're gonna want this one. It's there official video but it shows a lot of their dance moves. If you want I've got a couple of their appearances on MTV in the back that you can have copies of. (He looks around.) If you're serious about a collection on these guys you gotta get networked man. You can get almost any of their performances over the internet, for a price, that is."

"Well, I've only got two days. I'll take this and a couple of their older cd's. You got any of their imports around here? I know they released a few in Germany before they made it over here."

"Sure do. Hang on, I'll be right back."

The sales clerk heads into the back of the store. He comes back out with several cd's and another video with a blank cover on it. He hands it all to me and says, "Now that tape is free of charge. If you want any of their other performances come back and see me. I can't get you anymore today but I've got an extensive collection of their stuff at home."

I raise my eyebrows at the smaller man, "Um…Yeah…that's ok. I'll just take this, thanks for your help."

I paid for the stuff, got back in my car and headed home. Once home, I ordered dinner, then made myself comfortable on the couch to study my new employers. Or so I hoped anyway.

I watched the video the first time and thought, "These guys are a bit corny." As I watched the video over and over and really watched they're dance moves and realized how much they had to work to get to that level I was impressed. I wanted to see more. I got up and got the supposed pirate copy of them that the sales guy had given me.

I put the videos in and finished my dinner. "Wow, these guys have got the talent, although Lance seems to struggle a bit with some of the moves." I had just rewound the tape to watch it again when my doorbell rang.

I went to the door and looked through the peep hole, "Shit, what does he want?" I open the door.

"Just what do you think you're doing?"

"Um, I'm trying to learn how my new dancers move so that I can work with that knowledge and create some new dance steps for this really cool song they assigned me to work with."

"Oh, shut up. You know I'm not talking about that shit. I don't give a rats ass about that shit. I wanna know why you took this job? You can't possibly expect me to believe you had no idea who you were gonna be working for."

"What? Darren didn't say who it was. All he told me was I needed to be at Johnny's house this morning to meet a new potential client. That's it. He didn't give me any details except to show me the dance moves and that is the honest to God truth."

"Right, and you expect me to believe that? What the hell do you take me as? Some kind of idiot?"

"Well, if the…." I trailed off and a hand slammed into my jaw.

"Don't you fucking talk back to me. You ought to know better."

"Yeah, well… You ought to know that you just broke the law."

"What? How?"

"By coming here. I took out a restraining order on you. You're not supposed to come with in 500 yards of me unless it is work related and this is definitely not work related."

"When? You can't."

"I can and I did. You'll not be beating on me any more. Joseph Fatone. Not without going to jail for a really long time. And before you get any ideas, I called Justin earlier and he's gonna stop by in a few to see some of the stuff I've been working on."
