(The sun was high in the sky when JC and Justin awoke in each other's arms the next morning. They woke up and went down to the bordello for some grub and to mentally prepare for the impending gunfight. As the five men step out into the street the air is thick and there's not a soul out. All windows are boarded up and the town is deadly quiet.)
"Well, looks like it's just the five of us," Joe commented.
"Yep," Doc said.
"So you decided to show, huh, Chasez?" Richardson said, stepping out from the side of a building. The rest of his gang behind him.
"Afternoon Richardson," JC said calmly. "McClean, Carter, Littrel, Dorough, how are you this fine and wonderful afternoon?"
"We'll be doing alot better once you and your chickens are dead and buried," the man with cold hard eyes that JC had nodded to as he said McClean's name.
"Shit, to hell with all the pleasantries let get us some killin done," this from the man with the priest's collar.
The guns started blazing and dust flew JC shot McClean dead with his first shot. Joe got a few shots off before Carter took him down with a bullet in the leg. Doc nailed Dorough with a knife before the man even got off his first shot. Justin ducked behind a building and stayed there. He was too scared to do anything else. Chris and Littrel were wrestling in the middle of the street both having discarded their guns in the fray. JC and Richardson were in a heavy shoot out but JC was running low on barrel to hide behind and ammo. He tried to get Justin's attention when Richardson caught him in the thigh with a bullet. Richardson smugly walked up to JC and placed his gun to JC forehead. Thankfully, he was out of bullets so all that was heard was a very load CLICK. Justin jumped into action, shot Richardson in between the eyes and then for good measure shot Littrel as Chris flipped him over. When all was said and done, Joe had managed to kill Carter and only caught the one bullet in the leg, Doc had been grazed by a stray bullet in the shoulder, Chris had several cuts and scraps, JC was bleeding to death from a wound to the artery in his thigh, and Justin didn't have a scratch on him. The entire Richardson Gang was dead.
"JC? Can you hear me?" Justin asked.
"Yeah, I can hear you. I'm not gonna make it though. You did good kid."
"No, you can't die. I just found you. I just figured out that I want to be with you and now your just gonna die. Hell no. Guys you gotta get us out to that group of rocks that JC found me at. You know the big outcropping on Richardson's property. If I can get him back to where I'm from maybe the doctor's there can save him. They have a lot more to work with than we do here. They can give him blood and fix his leg up but we have to get moving. We have to get there like right now. Will you help me? Please."
"Alright kid. Calm down. Doc go get you buggy. I had the livery man hook your horse up first thing this morning. We'll get you there as soon as we can. Joe go get a couple of horses, we all can't fit in the Doc's buggy." Chris commanded.
"Justin, what are you doing? Just let me die in peace." JC breathed.
"I'm not going to just roll over and let you die. I'm taking you back and getting you some real help."
(They take JC and Justin out the group of rocks and watch as Justin pulls the small piece of metal out of his pocket and starts rubbing it.)
Please let this work. This thing had to trigger it last time. Come on. He's not gonna make it much longer.
As Chris, Joey, and Doc look on in amazement. They see a large dust cloud surround the two men on the rocks and when it clears the two men are gone. JC and Justin both close there eyes, JC in pain and Justin in prayer, when Justin opens his eyes again he sees the old gas station and his car is parked out front. The old man and woman are both standing next to an ambulance with two paramedics. Justin pick JC up and head directly to the ambulance. The two paramedics imediately start working on him. They had been prepared with the proper blood type and equipment to stop the bleeding. They drive off and Justin looks at the old couple.
"How can this be. How did you know that he would need...."
"Sometimes you just take things as they come son. Don't try to understand it. Just go with it."
(Justin jumps in his car and flies off to follow the ambulance. Once he gets to the hospital, he checks in and fills out all the paperwork for JC. He had to guess about most of it but filled it out the best he could.)
After about two hours the doctor comes out, "Excuse me. Who's here with the young man that was brought in with the gunshot wound to the leg?"
Man, he sure looks familiar (the doctor was pale with the strangest looking green eyes).
"I am."
"Well, it was touch and go for a little while, your friend lost a lot of blood but he's strong and healthy. He should be up and around in a few days."
"Thank God. Thank you doctor. Thank you very much. May I see him now?"
"Certainly. He is being moved to his own room now. If you'll follow me, I'd be happy to show you to his room."
(They walk down the hall of the hospital to JC's room. They find JC sitting up in his bed looking out the window.)
"Justin. Have you looked outside? Look how tall those buildings are. How is that possible? What are those things up there in the air? They look like funny looking, flying trains."
"Sh. If you don't be quiet, they're gonna move you down the hall to the looney bin. We'll talk about all that stuff when I take you home. Right now you need to relax and get as much rest as you can. The Doc says you can go home in a day or two."
"Great. I can't wait. You'll let me 'Drive' your car too right?"
"We'll see. I don't let just any cowboy drive my car, you know."
