Novel Rating: PG - Some swearing and violence.

This is a novel about a rebellious girl with a weird family. But that is the closest to normal it gets. Karlee Millifiori is more than a bit different from the other girls her age... On a day in late Summer this difference that she has denied for years figuratively slaps her in the face. She recieves a letter telling her that she has been accepted at The Ravenrock Academy For Exceptional Students and immediately thinks that her parents are trying to send her to a boarding school for juvenile delinquents. That idea comes crashing down when her parents find the letter and think it is a prank. But Nonna, Karlee's grandmother who calls her by her real name, Kareliana, knows of the school. In fact, she went to the Academy as a girl. She says it is a school for those with gifts. Somehow she convinces Karlee's parents to send her there. But when September comes around and she arrives at Ravenrock Karlee finds a lot more than she bargained for.

Number 1: Gifts meant powers. The academy is a school for teens with powers.

Number 2: All the students at the school, including Karlee, descend from the ancient inhabitants of Atlantis. In fact, she is a member of a completely different species from homo sapiens.

Number 3: Allthough she appears to be awful with her powers, there is enormous potential within her, something that someone is willing to attack her to obtain; the same person who is the reason she kept a knife in the desk drawer near her bed since that fateful night when she was seven...
