This summer, CBS's Big Brother 4 is returning for another season at the same camera equipped house on a CBS studio lot in Los Angeles beginning on July 8th, 2003. As before numerous websites covering Big Brother 4 exist on the web! The eviction cycle begins and ends on "Eviction" Wednesdays. A person is kicked out of the BB House and the remaining people compete in a contest to determine the next Head of Household who nominates two people for the next eviction vote. Broadcasts will be on Tuesday @ 8:00-9:00 PM EDT, Wednesday @ 9:00-10:00 PM EDT and Friday @ 8:00-9:00 PM EDT. |
The initial eight housequests, stunned by the announcement that their "Ex's" would be entering the house, vowed to form the initial alliance who's sole purpose is evicting them first. I doubt CBS wanted this nor the opposite where all the "Ex's" acted in concert to immediately remove the unattached people. As far as a strategy, none of the "Ex's" appears to constitute a threat with the exception of Justin Giovinci from a pure physical standpoint. So this is the "Survivor" strategy of the more populous tribe eliminating the other tribe first.
Nathan was elected as the Head of the Household in the HOH competition. As mentioned he nominated two of the "Ex's", Amanda and Jee to be up for eviction this week. If this holds up, then as in previous Big Brothers the first person to leave will be an inconsequential decision.
Strategic Error #1
Oh well, the original eight minus wart boy succeeded in removing one member of the weaker group,
all well and good but, YOU GET RID OF THE STRONGEST PLAYER FIRST!
Look what happened. Jee Choe, spared eviction, comes right back to win the HOH
competition. We have a chance to see if Jee dispatches with his ex-bitch
Jun Song (and who would blame him)
or displays his gamesmenship by following the aforementioned strategic advice.
Jee will narrow the candidates for eviction to the initial group of housequests and if he's smart, return last weeks favor by making Nathan Marlow his initial pick. The sooner you dispatch the alpha male the better. Assigned the role of "How can you evict this person" to oppose Nathan would be Dana Varela. Remember, Jee is already on Dana's bad side for kicking her out of her bed. Also she is a competitor who, if she wins the POV again, will be using it to vacate herself from the position. Finally, you assume others understand the solid reasoning behind this strategy. Don't buckle for a "no nominate next time" deal from anyone else.
Strategic Error #2
Jee picked
Erika Landin and Michelle Maradie
for the eviction vote.
What is he thinking? Neither of these two women will be around at the end. As a result, now Jee
will piss off an additional person. This makes it easy for the seven remaining of the original eight. They just evict Michelle who's only crime is being a member of the "Ex's". Jee has accomplished
nothing with his turn as the HOH. If he loses the game he doesn't have to look any further for the
mistake that did him in.
How surprised will the 3 Stooges: Jee Choe, Justin Giovinci and Scott Weintraub be when the group doesn't remove Erika Landin this week? Whoa! We got our answer on wednesday alright. Poor Michelle Maradie was "Pagonged" by the now Initial 7 houseguests. Did you see the look on the faces of the 3 Stooges? Stunned doesn't describe it. I think CBS should play the entire first season of Survivor for them as a learning experience.
Strategic Error #3
Dana has decided to abandon the original alliance and side with the
3 Stooges. While it could work, she is now regarded as belonging to neither group.
So assuming a member of the initial houseguests is evicted this week and taking into account her
defection, we arrive at a head count of 5 original versus 4 stooges. Given one of Jee's crew takes
HOH next week and nominates 2 originals, the math breaks down to a 3-3 tie with the HOH stoogie casting
the vote to remove yet another original. Whew! Too many if's but, the Initial Housequests are down to four like Dana plus the boys.
I think Dana would be better off had she tried to rehabilitate her standing with the initial group. Had the original group made it clear to the final 7, then she could situate herself as a swing vote while pitching herself to any set of three people who would listen to her. As we all know, if you can make the final four, anyone can win.
Nate has won the POV and is expected to save Alison. In which case Dana is expected to install Dave as her replacement. Right now with Dave having won a contest, he's the major threat and should be eliminated at this juncture.
As if being read from a script, Nate saved Ali and Dana nominates David who is the strongest available player. Naturally it's a no brainer and poor Dave leaves after becoming the first man to have "done it" in the house.
Speaking of "scripts" look who won HOH! What a surprise! The look on Dana's face as she passed the HOH Key to Alison said it all. She'd be paying for her strategic error next week.
The story of this week concerns Nate's game playing strategy and how he feels his decision to rescue Ali from eviction was an irrecovable blunder which will lead to his ejection from the game next week.
Resigned to his fate, Nate leaves quietly much the same way David made his way to the egress past the show's woefully untalented host, Julie Chen. A tremendous male-female flirtatious relationship turned sour, his "exit interview" begged for both more time and inciteful questioning. The audience experienced neither.
Erika Landin won the first endurance driven HOH competition which should serve as a signal to the others that she can not be left in the final four.
At this critical juncture, ostensibly clear alliances are on display.
Anyone following the show knows these alliances are all suspect. Erika has foresaken Jack in favor of her old EX Robert. Just recently, Jee was ready to jettison Robert as the weakest member of the "Dream Team". Needless to say, Alison and Jun have never gotten along in reality.
Strategic Error #4
Jee felt that it was necessary to claim the POV vote in order to secure
the nomination of Erika and Jack
for the up coming week. This is an obvious error. Alison is the greatest
threat at this time. She is the person most likely to win the next HOH competition and nominate
Jee! I believe Jee is doing this because he has an understanding with Alison
that he will be immune from a next round eviction should Alison win the HOH.
The erroneous thinking believes Erika goes now followed by Jack next week leaving the the uniformly unlikeable crew of Jee, Robert, Alison and Jun as the final four. Not many people can argue against the fact that these four are all unpalatable to the jury yet, someone must be the winner. If Jack has been holding back during competitions, it's time for him to drop that strategy and win the next HOH to stay in the game.
Meanwhile Alison is making all the right moves. Most of the people know she should be long gone but, she has successfully sold whomever the current power holder might be, to focusing on another target. Currently, I believe that the only person she might beat in the final twosome is Robert. I'm convinced she'll work towards this goal. Veteran show watchers realize that the "No two term HOH" rule is dropped between four people left and three. At that moment, she could "Win Out" as she sets herself up with her choice in the finals.
Strategic Error #5
Alison and Jun Song bailed out on the Stooges!
Jee's got to be feeling like shit. Twice the Head of Household and in both instances
(
Strategic Error #2 and
Strategic Error #4
)
his intended evictee Erika has not been the person voted out. Did you see the
look on his face both occasions? Priceless! However, in order to accomplish this coup, the gals
retained the slightly stronger but definitely likeable player namely Erika. Reiterating another rule
of thumb:
YOU MUST HAVE JETTISONED PLAYERS WITH JURY APPEAL BEFORE ENDGAME!
This is like playing with a stick of dynamite at this stage of the game which is why I classify this as a serious error. If Erika makes it to the final two, she should easily attract more votes then the other party opposing her.
Here's an aside. I think it'd be perfect if Jun wore a "fishnet" blouse with a silver gown to the music show. She'd look like a porpoise caught in a tuna net! Sushi anyone?
As for the week ahead. I'm assuming Jun follows through and nominates the two Stooges. Then the remaining "princesses" will put Jee out of his misery this week. So much for the "Dream Team" er...Stooges.
Having reviewed what happened to Jee during BB4 I have realized that it is important to formulate a new
rule governing HOH behavior:
THE HOH MUST SELECT TWO (2) NOMINEES THAT BOTH MEET HIS/HER CRITERIA FOR IMMEDIATE
EJECTION.
Basically, there is no such thing as a pawn or a "How can you evict this person nominee". Despite
agreements, those voting change their objective on the fly.
Jee has been twice burned as HOH. Each opportunity he has nominated Erika due to the influence of Robert and both times the alternate nominee has been evicted. So Alison should be gone but barring that Erika should be defintely relegated to the past.
Jun nominated Jee and Ali. Now listen to me as this is IMPORTANT! If there is anyone out there who can explain the way women reason in the real world, I want them to Email me immediately. Near as this old misogynist can figure, the "princesses" are going thru this meaningless nomination ruse to assuage their guilty consciences for screwing the "boys". A "kangaroo court" tactic that no one will buy into. Nominate the two men straight away and ask Jee what he would enjoy for his going away party.
Farewell Jee, you were played like a Stradivarius! At least I now understand the nomination dance played out by the women from last week to now. None of the women trust each other one bit. They were all afraid that one of them would defect on the gals own last minute alliance. What a cut throat game we have here!
Hmmmm, will Robert remain a creature of habit and go after Erika again the way he forced er...what was that little Chinese's kid's name again...to nominate her? As far as this author is concerned, Erika beats them all with the jury so she must go. I'm assuming the 75% chance the veto isn't won by Erika and she therefore becomes the replacement nominee/evictee. Let's see the bitch do the happy dance next wednesday. The nerve of that women!
I retained the strategy above so you can see how it is panning out below. Near as I can gather, suddenly Robert actually wants to keep Erika around. Huh? This man's cerebral cortex must be doing a salsa dance. No matter, Ali's on a roll and takes the last POV of BB4 which she will undoubtably use on herself. It also means she decides who goes. Now she could dispense with Jun who might be the biggest threat to win the final HOH. However, the producers have a way of selecting contests that might "favor" a particular houseguest. If Erika is around, I predict an "endurance" type of contest that would give her an excellent chance to win. Look for Ali to usher Erika to the door as she has done to so many others. Have you noticed how she's been racing to the door to position herself? So smug with herself!
Every year you ask for it and this year is no exception. This after all is the lay of the land, the way the game operates. I give you, your
It would appear that a concensus of the viewers believe that Jun beats Robert beats Ali. So the latter two will work towards the goal of "devouring" the cook this week! Ali won the first part of the HOH competition. It wasn't any surprise since like last year they ran another "endurance" contest to start off the 3 people left HOH contest.
Knowing a victory by Robert means Jun's ass is out of here, the producers made the second part of the HOH competition a largely mental exercise unlike last year. They did this to favor Jun over Robert otherwise the suspense over part 3 would have been blown. True to form, Robert tanked giving Jun the opportunity to compete for the half a million. See! I can be a television producer. Anyone from the network reading this?
Robert revealed he verbally cursed the women to the women! Some womanizer! No matter, the story continues to revolve around Ali's reasoning of the best way to conduct the endgame. Ricky Ricardo's dissing the women merely provided additional cover for the real reasoning behind Ali's choice of the final opponent.
I suspect she sized up her remaining competition as follows. Robert, the straight forward player who was open with people constrasted with Jun who played a roughly identitical game to Ali by way of a much more low key approach. She tallied 3 votes ( Justin, Jee and Dana ) as firmly in Rob's column meaning he only needs one more anti-Ali vote to win. On the other hand, Jun blew all her alliances as well.
Basically, I think it comes down to presentation at this point. Ali has to carefully prepare her summation to the jury much like a trial lawyer arguing that the death penalty is unconstitutional cause it's applied disproportionally. You want to juice me? Hey you're about to let this person off with a half-million reward for the same crime!
Hell, who's kidding who? Everyone hates Ali-whore (one of her message board nicknames)! Besides Jun did almost all the cooking and she gave massages? Ok Ok, yes I predicted Robert but I'm still in the batter box!
The men bit hook, line and sinker on the bullshit these women fed them didn't they? This suggests the following rule or more properly approach: THE WOMEN MUST BE CONSIDERED EQUALLY DANGEROUS OPPONENTS, NO DIFFERENT FROM ANY OF THE MEN! Sure they can't win intense physical competitions or certain sporting type activities but, most anything else including the mental is a given. As for lying, cheating, reneging on deals and misrepresentation, THEY KNOW HOW TO PLAY MEN!
This prediction turned out to be correct ! 6-1 was the final vote. The only odd thing was Nathan voting for Ali and Jee voting for Jun! What were these men thinking? They should've voted exactly the opposite.
