BACKPACK OR NOT Many today travel very comfortably smaller bags of the kind that one uses for athletic gear or footballers use to carry their gear on the field.

Make that two bags if necessary. A big backpack is really heavy to lug around. It looks romantic but is difficult to store and very very heavy to carry around looking for a hotel room.

A portable bag makes it easy to move around. Ensure that it has facilities for a lock.

SLEEPING BAG

Bring a sleeping bag only if you are going trekking or into the mountains !
