An Aussie Girl attracts humour !
Life in the Indian Subcontinent - (13 replies)
Hi all, is there anyone that lives in the Indian Subcontinent? I would
love to know what the life is like there, and to swap stories and to just
hear about people and their stories.
So lets swap stories. aussie_girl_melb |
1. hi

2. Hi
I live in India.
What exactly do you want to know? When things are steep, remember to stay level-headed. |
3. shobho
u are a rich man. as i have to go on a donkey to work everyday and its so
damn slow, i wish i could upgrade myself to the elephant..but i can't
afford it right now...hopefully the rains will come this year and we will
have plenty of food, then i can afford the latest in transport...
The boss is away!! |
4. a donkey - pure luxury!!
I ride a large rat to work every day, eat broken glass for lunch and sleep
on a bed of nails.
Even worse than this, I live in the middle of London. You Indians, you have everything! |
5. Come on u guys
Give the girl the benefit of the doubt. If this is indicative of Indian
mentality and self pity then there really is no hope for you.
|
6. hey hey
I am sure none of them meant their statements to be taken in anyway other
than good natured humour..however, I wouldn't know. I got a chuckle.
And to the OP, the stories are unlimited, they just need an excuse to start tumbling out. |

I sit on a string bed in abject squalor on the banks of the Yamuna River,
dreaming of the loftiest sort of union with God imaginable.....My mantra is "Hare Om Navash Shev-eye".... (a mantra is a special phrase you keep saying over and over to yourself, for years and years if necessary, until your mind fills with light...) |
10. *laugh*
Come on guys, give me an idea of what you love about your life, what
special little things there are in India that you love.
|
11. .
1)Autorickshaw drivers always demanding excess fair.
2)Loud music blaring at all the festivals 3)Coconut Chutney 4)Listening to Joni Mitchell on top of Snowdon Peak 5)Rumours about secret waterfalls (!) 6)Long Long relaxing cross country train journeys - spent by reading Terry Pratchett and eating cutlets at breakfast(on the train) and sitting at the doorway clicking pictures with extremely high shutter speeds and extremely large aperture. 7)KC Das and his Rosogollas 8)Freedom - almost an excess of it and that is only a random list. |
12. wot to say?
aussie firl, we LIVE here. we see nothing strange or fascinating about our
lives, just as i'm sure you see nothing strange or fascinating about your
life.
maybe if u ask specific questions, u'll get some answers. (PLEASE don't ask about spirituality.) |
13. ankur
u are obviously a bengali boy, ankur.
i agree about the trains. there's nothing like waking up at the crack of dawn, opening the train door & sitting on the floor, watching the sun rise & drinking hot, over-sweet tea & smoking a wills. absolute heaven. planes have no romance at ALL. |
