but in my mind, sarees are classified as formal/office-wear, so obviously salwaar-kurtaas rock!!!

6. agree with Soul Curry

I only ever wore saris to the office or to weddings, and salwar kameezes at all other times. In the South Asian climate you don't really want to be wearing anything else.

wondering what you'd like...
ummm... given your size, i'd say, sarees should be your thing. and no horizontal stripes for you, laddie!

is comfy like wearing pajamas! though the dupatta hacked me off for a few weeks i must confess. saris feel like glamour wear to me but too much of a hassle for everyday

10. clothing

i like to wear the salwar kameez when in india.
it's really comfortable, easy to sit on the ground, climb up to bunks in trains etc, and you get much more respect/less hassles particularly if you are travelling in small villages or without a male companion.
i've only worn a sari once and have no desire to do it again, i felt is was cumbersome and uncomfortable and not very flattering on most western women.

... i'd only wear one again if i'd had it custom made ... i'm fairly small but found all that bulk around the waist too much. Personally I feel more comfortable in western long skirts and short sleeved tops.
As for saree ... i think i'd look ridiculous and without the gracefulness to do it justice.
