A trough of low pressure still affected the coast of Guangdong on
Sunday. During that day, it was mainly cloudy with showers in this
district. Even there was heavy rain in the evening. Nearly 20 millimetres
were recorded. From Monday to Wednesday, as affected by a ridge of
high pressure, though it was cloudy, sunny periods were observed. Thursday
onwards, a dry continental airstream brought generally fine and dry weather
to the district. Nevertheless, it was hot with haze in the afternoon.
In this week a tropical cyclone, named Linfa, formed to the west of
Luzon. Linfa once intensified into a severe tropical storm, but weakened
when crossing Luzon. Entering the western Pacific, Linfa moved
north-northeastwards with a faster speed towards the southern Japan.

晚更有大雨，錄得接近20毫米雨量。
星期一至三，受一道高壓脊的影響，
天氣好轉，雖然多雲，但部分時間有
陽光。自星期四起，乾燥的大陸氣流
為本區帶來普遍晴朗及乾燥的天氣；
雖然如此，下午天氣炎熱，有煙霞。
本週有一熱帶氣旋於呂宋以西形成，
命名為蓮花。蓮花一度增強為強烈熱
帶風暴，但在橫過呂宋時減弱。進入
西太平洋後，蓮花以較快速度向東北
偏北移動，趨向日本南部。
