The ridge of high pressure over northwestern Pacific extended westwards early this week
and persisted to cover southeastern China throughout this week. Over this district, apart
from some showers on Sunday and Wednesday morning, for the rest of the time, it was generally
fine with plenty of sunshine. It was also hot with air temperature rising to around
32 to 33 degrees in the afternoon. On the other hand, Typhoon Haitang edged closer to
Taiwan on Saturday. Under the influence of its outermost subsident air mass, it gradually
became very hot in the district.
西北太平洋的高壓脊本週初向西伸展，整個星期持續覆蓋中國東南部。本區方
面，除星期日及星期三早上有幾陣驟雨外，其餘時間普遍晴朗，陽光充沛，天
氣炎熱，下午氣溫均上升至32至33度。另一方面，颱風海棠於星期六移近台灣
，受其外圍下沉氣流影響，本區天氣漸轉酷熱。
