Sunday, under the combined effect of the ridge of high pressure over southeastern China
and Tropical Storm Vicente, it was still windy at first over this district and cloudy throughout
the day. Monday, it turned to be fine. It was very hot in the afternoon. Tuesday, fine with
haze. It was hot in the afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday, Tropical Storm Damrey crossed
Luzon Strait and entered the northern part of South China Sea. Its outermost sinking
airmass brought very hot weather to the district. Thursday adternoon, air temperature once
rose to 36 degrees Celsius. Friday, fine in the morning but became cloudier in the afternoon.
There were even some showers in the evening. On the same day, Damrey intensified into a
severe tropical storm, moving westwards across the northern part of South China Sea. During
the weekend, affected by Damrey, there were squally showers and strong winds throughout the
day. On the other hand, Damrey intensified into a typhoon that evening and continued to move
westwards across the northern part of South China Sea in the direction of Hainan.
星期日，受中國東南部的高壓脊及熱帶風暴韋森特的共同影響，本區初時仍然
風勢頗大，整天大致多雲。星期一，轉為天晴，下午天氣酷熱。星期二，天晴
但有煙霞，下午天氣炎熱。星期三及四，熱帶風暴達維橫過呂宋海峽，進入南
海北部，其外圍下沉氣流氣流為本區帶來相當酷熱的天氣；星期四下午氣溫一
度升至36度。星期五，早上天晴，下午漸轉多雲，傍晚有幾陣驟雨；當日，達
維亦增強為強烈熱帶風暴，向西移動，橫過南海北部。星期六，受達維影響，
整天有狂風驟雨及吹強風；另外，達維於同日傍晚增強為一颱風，繼續向西移
動，橫過南海北部，趨向海南島。
