A ridge of high pressure brought fine and hot to very hot weather to this district early this week. An area of low pressure oveer the South China Sea intensified into a tropical depression on Tuesday morning, named Jelawat. Jelawat further intensified into a tropical storm that night. Wednesday evening, Jelawat skirted across northeastern Hainan and weakened into a tropical depression. That day, as affected by rainbands associated with the outermost circulation of Jelawat, there were showers, heavy at times, and some thunderstorms in the district. More than 70 millimetres of rainfall was recorded. Jelawat weakened into an area of low pressure over western Guangdong on Thursday afternoon. Later this week, it was still showery, however, fine at some time. Saturday afternoon, it was very hot with temperature up to 34.3 degrees, that was the highest so far this year.

一道高壓脊於本星期初為本區帶來晴朗
及炎熱至酷熱的天氣。位於南海的低壓
區於星期二早上增強為一熱帶低氣壓，
並命名為杰拉華。杰拉華於當晚進一步
增強為熱帶風暴。星期三傍晚，杰拉華
掠過海南島東北部，並減弱為一熱帶低
氣壓。當日，受杰拉華的外圍環流雨帶
影響，本區有驟雨，雨勢有時頗大及有
幾陣雷暴，共錄得超過70毫米雨量。杰
拉華於星期四下午在廣東西部減弱為一
低壓區。本週後期，仍有驟雨，但部分
時間天晴。星期六下午，天氣酷熱，氣
溫高達34.3度，是本年至今的最高紀錄
。
