Early this week, a southwest monsoon brought showers to this district and showers were mainly observed in the morning. Showers reduced in the afternoon and there were sunny intervals. A trough of low pressure brought heavy thundery rain to the district on Tuesday morning when nearly 110 millimetres of rainfall was recorded. During mid-week, while Severe Tropical Storm Bilis was crossing Taiwan, it was sunny and very hot over the district as affected by the outermost subsiding air of Bilis. Thursday afternoon, temperature rose to 35.8 degrees, that was the highest so far this year. Bilis made landfall near Luoyuan, Fujian during the day on Friday, crossed Fujian and Jiangxi, and weakened into an area of low pressure over the weekend. Under the combined effect of Bilis's renmant and an active southwest monsoon, there was occasional rain during the weekend and there was even downpour that morning. That day, 188 millimetres of rainfall was recorded in the district.
