A fresh to strong northeast monsoon affected Tsing Yi on Sunday and Monday. It was mainly cloudy and rather windy. Until Monday afternoon, clouds thinned out and there were sunny periods. During mid-week, a ridge of high pressure led to abundant sunshine and hot to very hot weather over Tsing Yi. On the other hand, the tropical depression over the northwestern part of South China Sea skirted across the sea to the south of Hainan and landed over northern Vietnam early this week. Meanwhile, Typhoon Xangsane to the east of the Philippines crossed the Philippines and South China Sea, in the direction of Central Vietnam. Under the combined effect of a northeast monsoon and Xangsane, it was rather windy and gradually turned cloudy over Tsing Yi during the weekend.

間有陽光。本週中期，一道高壓脊令青
衣陽光充沛，天氣炎熱至酷熱。另一方
面，位於南海西北部的熱帶低氣壓於本
星期初掠過海南島以南海域，登陸越南
北部。此外，位於菲律賓以東的颱風象
神，橫過菲律賓及南海，趨向越南中部
；受東北季候風及象神的共同影響下，
青衣於週末期間風勢較大及漸轉多雲。
