WW: Are you named after the Elton John song?

Matt: There are two sides to this, some say yes... others say no. I'm one for... maybe.

WW: How would you describe F4AF's sound to someone who's never heard you before?

Matt: Quirky stadium rock

WW: There's a lot of talk going around that you're an emo band. True?

Matt: I could go on all day about this topic, emo is just a cheap way to label a style of music. It can be easier for some people to have the comfort of labels but it can also have the downside of following you around for the rest of your career.

I for one say that we're a rock band with hardcore, punk and some metal influences. Emo? If that's what people say then that's what they can believe. I really don't care.

WW: You've just finished you're debut EP. Did it turn out sounding how you wanted it to sound?

Matt: Actually, we recorded the EP way back at the end of January so the tracks, to us, feel a little dated. As with any release i don't think you can be 100% happy with it, sure there are things i'd like to try again, certain arrangements etc but what's done is done.

WW: Are you touring to promote the EP? Any dates set?

Matt: Yeah, we're playing a few dates throughout September, just here and there but we have a 3 week tour planned with Fony at the end of October so everyone watch out for the F4AF attack!

WW: There's been a lot of hype surrounding you, and vast interest from the media. Do you think you can live up to it with your next release?

Matt: We've already started tracking stuff for our album. The stuff we've written since the EP (bear in mind that those four tracks were the first tracks written by us) has progressed and is more in tune with our influences.

Personally, i think the new stuff pisses over the old tracks and I can't wait to get it all recorded and out there!

WW: Is there a full album coming in the not so distant future?

Matt: Yes, as I said above. We're currently working on it. We have about seven new tracks plus we're going to be reworking two from the EP. Hopefully, it'll be out by the beginning of 2003.

WW: The Welsh music scene is on a high with yourselves, The Kennedy Soundtrack and Lostprophets at the forefront. Are there any other bands we should be looking out for?

Matt: Midasuno (great, dark indie rock)
From This Moment On (full on, metallic influenced hardcore... quite an amazing live band)
The Take (awesome indie rock on Household Name records)
Taint (just a really spectacular, groove, stoner rock band)
Goatboy (fucked up blues-hip-hop-punk hybrid...check out their album!)
Wake Up In Flames (emo core band like early Saves the Day etc)

... if i see anymore i'll let you know.
