What is SimCity 2000?

SimCity 2000 is one of many simulation games manufactured by Maxis. Others include SimFarm, SimAnt, SimTower the original: SimCity and SimLife. Each simulates a different thing. SimFarm, a farm. SimAnt, an ant colony, etc. SimCity is the second in line of the games that simulate cities. The first, SimCity was hugely popular so a sequel was made in the form of SC2K. Maxis has released the next step: SimCity 3000. Oooh! Ask Monica what she thinks.

Why I think SC2K is so Popular

I know the reason why the line of SimCity games is so popular. It's so simple I bet you know it too. The simple answer is: power. You have the ability to run something all by yourself. Everybody wants to rule the world, and here's their chance. Also, it's your chance to design your own utopia. Everyone has their own ideals and they put them to use in SC2K. Do you value a smart population? Then build some colleges and libraries. Would you like to make people realize how puny and insignifigant they are? Destroy them with a disaster. Ever wonder if a city can be run purely with subways? Try it. The possibilities are limitless. That is why SC2K is so popular: you can do whatever the hell you please.

Stratagies

After you have played this game for awhile you can develop your own stratagies, but here are some of mine:

1) Edit terrain before it costs you money. Especially if you are going to want to do drastic things to the landscape.
2) Use hydroelectric plants to power your city. They are more cost effective than other methods.
3) Zones will develop no more than 3 tiles away from transportation. Try to use the roads to their potential.
4) Start placing public transportation early and often.
5) Skimp on zoning sometimes. (zone light)
6) Go ahead and let the simulation run awhile if you are making money.
7) Keep costs low early on when you don't have much cash.

Codes

I finally figured out how to make tables, thanks to Annabella's HTML Help. Thanks! Since the table is large, and there might be people who just don't wanna cheat, the cheats page has it's own site. Mind you, it is under construction, so please bear with me. Click here to see the cheats

Upon learning to zip files and upload them, I have done so with two of mine, Water Forest and Playtonsville. They are .zip files, so you'll need an unzipping program to get at the cities. You can download a shareware version so that you can see my cities by clicking here. They are seperate.

PLAYTONSVILLE- I love this city! It is nestled in valleys and is located near the coast and on a river. The city is of high intelligence (work force EQ=116) and excellent health (LE=79). Traffic is no problem because of the network of train stations and bus depots. Being on the coast and near a river present the problem of flooding. When floods do occur, for some reason, the infrastructure weathers it well, causing very little damage to the town.

WATER FOREST- Created about a year ago, there are many interesting aspects to this city. Mainly the power source. Download it to see. High EQ and LE. Later I used it for a community unit project in English class. My favorite. Educated, Healthy, protected, clean.
