Polishing and deburring the welded maille
Simple really - the maille is tumbled with gravel or small stones to grind the burrs off.  This produces a lot of noise and takes a while to do, so a seperate building or shed to house the drier in is useful.  A concrete mixer could be used as an alternative.

This particular drier was bought on the cheap and modified by removing the timer and the heating element.  It's now nothing more than a motor, a drive belt and a drum.  The foam is used on the inside of the drum to try to keep most of the noise muffled.
