Beautiful Coastal Sunset

Hi! Welcome to my homepage. I'm Linda... a plain ole' southern gal residing in Georgia, one of the best states in the South (but some may argue that. Georgia is a lovely state with a lot to offer. Where else could you go and have it all (mountains, beaches, hills, valleys, flatlands, beautiful scenery). Okay so I am a little partial...I know in our great country there are many beautiful places just like Georgia, but if you have never been in our area, come visit sometime, you'll be glad you did.

I am from a small rural town known for it's tasty, red, sweet watermelons. They even have the title as Watermelon Capital of the World. Each year the city has a week-long festival (including a seed spitting contest. Come on down sometime and enjoy a sweet slice of life. If you would like to take a tour of my hometown please click on the following link. Watermelon Capital of the World!

This was my first attempt at creating a homepage. It took some work and it's not one of the best, but it has been a wonderful experience for me as I have met many people and made new friends that have visited my page and signed my guestbook.

It's Just Me!

Don't Stop...There's More!

My Friend Tracy

This lady is a computer whiz! Tracy put together one of the best pages I had ever seen. Over the last few years she has started her own computer web business. If you are in the market for a computer or need computer support check out her site: Computer Web Guru. She is a very talented woman, and a very good friend.

Work: retired from the University System of Georgia in 2003. I moved to a bigger town in Northeast Georgia. My retirement was short lived as I went back to work full time with a law enforcement training agency. After three years on the regional level I applied for and received a promotion to the Division level at the main headquarters. I moved once again...back to a smaller town where my State headquarters is located. I hope to retire from this job someday as well.

Personal Interests: I enjoy just about all sports, particularly baseball/softball. I played softball and umpired for the local little league for years, but had to hang up the glove....after all I'm not getting any younger. Other interests include antiques/collecting, amatuer photography, drawing/art, computers and gem grubbing (this is sifting through rocks dug from mines to find rubies, amethyst, sapphires, etc., cooking (especially baking). What a fun hobby! I love the outdoors....flowers, birds, wildlife, all parts of nature as God created it. I have a very strong spiritual background and an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. My music interests are light rock, oldies, some modern country, some classical, etc. (no opera).

Of course, I love computers. I spend most of my time at the computer, especially at work! Computers are challenging, frustrating and fun. I enjoy meeting and chatting with people from all over the US and world. I have met some of the most wonderful people and have made several good friends I know will be friends forever. Geanology has been another interest of mine. I have tried to trace my family roots with alot of success and have found out some interesting information. I have also found relatives I didn't know I had that are still living. I wish I had more time to spend on it.

Being a country gal, I am a very simple, down-to-earth person......open-minded and non-judgemental, caring, sensitive and compassionate. I have sort of a dry sense of humor, but I love to have fun. In my opinion, a persons real being comes from within, not from outward expression or looks.

In Loving Memory of My Brother

"Tommy"

This was a devastating loss to my entire family, especially to me, having been the one who found my baby brother murdered. It's an experience you don't wish on anyone and certainly won't ever forget. It's been several years, but the memory of that day will be etched in my mind forever. Being a victim of the violent crime of murder or any violent crime makes the following link special to me. There are still very few constitutional rights for the victims of violent crime as compared to the constitutional rights of a criminal and it's time that our voices are heard. The National Office of Victim's Assistance is a very important organization, working to promote the rights of victims. If you or anyone you know has been a victim of any violent crime, please support this organization or victim assistance/support groups in your area. National Office of Victims Assistance.

This is the theme of the weeks observance this year -
Justice for Victims. Justice for All - April 13–19, 2008 Another good site to visit is: The Department of Justice site - OVC - Office of Victims of Crime.

During a local observance of National Crime Victims Week in my home town, a tree was planted in a downtown park in my brothers honor and memory. Also, a memorial wall has been erected and dedicated at the Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center in Cordele, with plaques honoring those lost to violent crime. Although Tommy is not physically with us, he will continue to live on and his memory will grow, just as this tree will do.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. There's always more to know and learn about me so feel free to inquire. E-mail me....because I will respond....meeting people and making new friends is something I really enjoy. Also, take a moment to sign my guestbook so I'll know you've been here. YA'LL COME BACK NOW...YA HEAR!
