| Moved out to my old camping place again to look over some |

| Overturf came down and worked a couple of days with me |
| and Aug. 2 we went back to Portland. |

| I went to Vancouver and Monday 10 started to work for the |
| Columbia River Lumber Co. as a tally man at $2.25. |

| Got laid off at the mill. |

| Went to West Fork with Prof. Hoghson of Lincoln Neb. |
| located him on a timber claim. He came very near to tiring |
| out before I got in with him. We went to Roseberg that |
| evening. I stopped in Roseberg the 22 and 23. Went to |
| West fork and located Dr. Keeney. |

| Schylerman came down with three ladies and I located them |
| on three timber claims. |
| Sunday, August 30, 1903 |
| Another young lady came down and I took her out to the |
| claims alone. Gone all day. She took a claim. It was a hard |
| trip. |

| Went to Glendale to make out papers for work at Vancouver. |
| Saturday, September 05, 1903 |
| Located a man by the name of Stark. Got $90.00 off him. |
| Tuesday, September 08, 1903 |
| Went up Riffle Creek and killed two fawns the first deer I have |
| killed for nearly 4 1/2 years. |
