Positive Progressions

February 10, 1998

Things have been pretty interesting lately. Even with the disappointment of teaching. I got called yesterday to come in this morning for Substitute Processing. It took forever. I was there at 8:30 am (way too eary for my taste, but what can you do?). Anyhow, we were there for 2 hours filling out paperwork, getting fingerprinted and having security tags made. What amazed me was how many people had no clue how to fill out simple forms. Geez.

They said we wouldn't start getting called to Sub until Thursday. I guess they processed our stuff a lot quicker than they expected, because I've gotten called twice already. I had to say no (it is a computer system) both times because I am going to my therapist tomorrow. But I think this indicates I will definitely be working a lot. I'm excited, but I'm also scared. I think I'll do okay though. Hopefully it will go well.

I've also gotten into Genealogy recently. For a while, I have been annoying my parents with questions about our ancestors. Finally, mom brought in all her files for the family. So, I have now got the genealogy bug. I want to learn more. So far, I have traced one branch of my family to England in the mid-1500s. Most of the family came to the US in the 1630s. A few came in the mid-1800s, like the Haberstroh's and the Dauernheim's and a Mary Naomi O'Brien. They will be difficult to trace, especially Mary. I know she came from Ireland, but not what part of Ireland.

Otherwise, things have been a little dull. I am really enjoying the Olympics--I love Ice-Skating. I've also been good about my diet. I think I've lost about 5 pounds. I'm not dieting necessarily. Just biking on the stationary bike, doing yoga and some toning. The mere introduction of activity is helping me lose weight (I gained it while I had arthritis and was unable to move around). Also, I have quit eating all beef and pork. That doesn't hurt. Anyhow, I'm just rambling now, so I should better end this.
