Once upon a time, in the far away kingdom of Cincinnati, there lived the Highlander, Logan(one of Queen Mary Lee's Assasins). The Highlander was lonely, for he was trapped by the wicked witch, Dawn. His only comforts were his computer and the RGs he attended occasionally. Finally, he found a good lawyer to help him escape the witches clutches.
Meanwhile, far away in Columbus, the Lady Deborah was planning an RG. It had been several years since the group had held one, and she was nervous. Would everything go smoothly? Would they have good programs and speakers? What kind of people would come? It was her very first RG (doesn't every good fairy tale have to have a virgin of some sort?), and she wanted everything to go well. Invitations had gone out to kingdoms far and wide, so she wasn't sure what to expect. Little did she know what the Fates had in store for her.
The fateful weekend arrived. Logan had decided on a whim to make the journey. On that fateful Friday, Deborah went to check on hospitality and take a much needed rest. Then Fate stepped in(as it is wont to do).
She ran into Logan (literally-she is a bit of a klutz,as we all know!). When their eyes met, they knew it was meant to be. All weekend, they spent every moment they could together. They didn't want to be apart for one second. Cupid's arrows had struck home.
When the weekend was over, it was time to depart. Logan hugged Deborah and said, "If you ever want to get in touch, call me. My number is in the Bulletin." Deborah figured that was the last she'd ever see of him. She was crushed and went back to her kingdom in despair. But the sorceror, Bob, told her to go ahead and call him, you just never know. She decided to take a chance. After all, he WAS the registrar for the Cincinnati RG (good excuse as any). Drat! Voice mail! She left a message and waited, but to no avail.
Unbeknownst to Deborah, Logan had journeyed to the land of New York, home of the Today show and other delights. On the way home, he decided to stop and check his messages. A message from Deborah! He fell to his knees and thanked the heavens for his good fortune. With trembling fingers, he dialed her number. Drat! Voice mail (do I sense a pattern here?)! He left a message and went back to his kingdom to wait and hope.
Finally, she called! They decided to meet and see if their first impressions were correct. When they got together, the feelings were stronger than ever. They knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, but there were many obstacles to overcome first (hey, since when have people in fairy tales ever had it easy?). Which kingdom to live in? What about the children? Where would they have the wedding?
They pleaded with Queen Mary Lee to permit them to wed at the Cincinnati RG. After much groveling (which Logan does SO well), she graciously granted their request. Logan arranged for the honorable Mayor of Springdale to officiate. His best friend, Lord Dave, agreed to stand by his side.
Finally, the day arrived. Everything went as planned (well, except for the tux incident, but we won't mention that!). Deborah's children, princess Heather and prince Charles (no, NOT the one in England, silly. This prince is cute!) stood by her side. George read a beautiful poem that the Highlander had written for his lady love. Lady Gwendolyn, Deborah's cousin, caught the bouquet and much fun was had by all. And they lived happily ever after...
{Before we get to that happily ever after stuff-
Lady Deborah was no dummy. She knew how this fairy tale stuff went. You know, these guys always promise you castles and kingdoms and gold and all that when all they REALLY want to do is keep you in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant while they go off on quests, crusades, and to slay dragons and such nonsense. Well, not for this Lady! She knew it was important to let the Highlander know right away who was boss. So, when he lifted her dress to get her garter he found his first wedding present - a new collar! Deborah told him, "you may be Webmaster to Mensa, but at home we both know who'll be Webmistress!
So back to the happily ever after stuff-}
Of course, not being dead yet, we're still working on that "ever after" bit. But we ARE very happy. Giddy, delirious, joyous, you get the picture (fill in the blanks yourself). And to signify that our love is eternal, we have our own star-Ursa Major RA 9h33mOsd 71° 21´ (really, check it out in the International Star Registry). Every day we thank the heavens that we found each other and that Cupid's arrows found their marks. So, I guess we are living happily ever after, huh? Not too bad for a real life fairy tale!
The End
