Why is this Quote Important?
I chose this quote as a reminder to Feminists and a note to Beginners, Students and the Curious. When you begin to learn about Women's Studies and Feminism it is natural for people to get frustrated or angry. This is normal. But where and who you focus the anger at is important. Don't attack men in general. In many cases they are unaware of women's issues. Consider them to be "sleepers", they are contently unaware of the situation and issues around them. Remember this. Educate them as you learn new things. Take them on your journey...let them learn with you. Don't attack them, it will only make your journey harder. Help them understand the patriarchal society around them. Help them realize that certain behaviours hurt women and girls. It is quite possible that they had no idea that they were contributing to the oppression of females. Of course there are always exceptions...
