Aunt Lillian's Tea Cakes

Sister-Friend's Great-Aunt Lillian is her role-model for living vitally, with both exuberance and dignity. When Sister-Friend was a little girl, "Aunt Lillian" would help me make these soft cookies. Not too sweet, they are wonderful at a tea party, or anytime.

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups + 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Mix ingredients til just blended. DO NOT ROLL OUT DOUGH. Drop from spoon. Bake 375 ° 10-12 minutes.

Sister-Friend feels that recipes are gifts ... familiar recipes, in fact, are like friends, themselves. If you have a favorite recipe that you would like to share, please send it to CalypsoZ@swbell.net. Thank you!
