Maude Adams
Most Beloved American Theatre Actor

Several years ago while browsing in a magazine I came across this photo of Maude Adams as the Duke of Reichstadt (also known as Young Napoleon). This picture haunted me for years, and, I'm told it was the inspiration for the movie Somewhere in Time starring Christopher Reeve. I've found some photos of Ms Adams on the internet and put them in this gallery. To see the larger photo, just click on the small photo, and enjoy. If you find any photos of Maude Adams that are not here, please let me know so that I may add them to the collection.

Maude Adams as the young hero of Rostand's L'Aigion

Maude Adams was much admired as the young hero of Rostand's L'Aigion.

The play Peter Pan was written especially for Maude Adams by Scottish playwrite, Sir James Barrie.
"She was ever a person apart, and long ago she learned to shut herself such as she was, away from the distracting sounds of the managers, the critics, and the public. I am glad of that for only such a one could, in 1905, have saved the new-born Peter Pan from being the dire failure which the managers, the critics, and the public at first so confidently regarded it." from a 1905 review of Peter Pan.
