Battle Rage

Everywhere the battle rages
I touch my quill to battered pages.
Oh to hope for once again
The spark of light that dwelled within.
The light once flickered, yet died away
Leaving a void so cold and grey.
My heart screams out from deep within
To shout above the battle din.
Does anyone care, does anyone see
The pain that brings me to my knee?
The crushing weight from up above
Holds down my hope of finding love.
The walls, the bars that keep me caged
No more to see the battle waged.
To see the sunshine once again
Not from this cell that locks me in.
