Facade

You see me here before you,
standing tall,
woman warrior,
so sure of myself
wearing my warrior's attitude
wilting the strongest foe with just a look
in his
or her
direction.
You see me here before you
the warrior woman
who drinks just a bit too much.
You see me here before you
the warrior woman
who jokes a little too hard.
You see me here before you
the warrior woman
who laughs a bit too loud.
But can you not see me?
The real me
hidden somewhere inside?
Can you not see
the quivering mass of jelly
I have become
that which is the real me?
Can you not see that I have become
a scared little bunny rabbit
when I am anywhere close to you?
Can you not see that I tremble with love
a love that if unleashed
would cause the seas would rise up and spill their contents?
a love that if unleashed
would cause the mountains would crumble into piles of rocks?
That if unleashed
would cause the earth to tremble with such passion
that for certain would open up and swallow all?
Can you not see the love I keep locked deep
within my heart for you and only for you
all my waking and sleeping hours?
Can you not see the real me
the true me
hidden behind this mask?
The me I keep buried deep
within this façade
called warrior?
