December 23rd

Well, I'm glad I didn't have anything planned yesterday, because I spent most of the day wiping out and reinstalling Windows 95 and most of my software. I'd bought "Home Essentials 98" for myself on Sunday, and wanted to have everything freshly installed. I also wanted my scrolling middle mouse button back, but the reinstall itself didn't fix that; somehow, the driver for the mouse had gotten changed (must have been when I reinstalled before I last went to Jevim's, I really don't remember if it was working then or not), so I changed it back to the Win95 logitech driver, and everything is fine.

I ordered Mom's plane tickets for her yesterday, once things were mostly back together (I still have lots of stuff to install, but it's games for the most part, and they can wait), and so she'll be gone for three weeks in February. I think I'm gonna go nuts! Think I can learn to drive in just 4 weeks? Nah, I didn't either, especially since I can't see the hood of Mom's Cougar, even on my "booster" pillow. I hate being 4'10"! (that's about 1.47m for you metric type people)

When I went in for a lung function test last year, the technician measured my armspan and said I should have been about 5'4 1/2" or about 1.64, if not for the scoliosis and spinal fusions. *sigh* It would be nice to be that tall. At least I don't get mistaken for a kid very often any more. Well... I take that back... I'm not exactly sure, but at Wal-Mart on Sunday, Santa (who seemed awfully thin) came up to me and asked if I'd been good this year. I told him yes, though I'm not sure what terms HE was judging on... I've been naughty, but not in a mean way. But anyway... I still wonder why he came up to me; I was dressed up for church, and wearing my heavy mock-fur coat and leopard-print gloves and scarf. Did I really look that young? Ah, well...

Got a Christmas card from my oldest sister, Anita, yesterday, and she sent some pictures of her baby (their one and only, she miscarried a number of times and I never expected it when she wrote last Christmas and said she was going to have a baby in February), and one of her, her husband, and the baby. He's such a cutie! The baby, I mean!! Her husband, Mark, is nice, and probably my favorite brother in law.

Tomorrow is Jevim's last day of work... I'm surprised that the place will be open on Christmas Eve, but he did say he was going to be working 3 days this week... I tried to forward a funny to him yesterday at work, only to receive a bounce saying the user did not exist. It seems Information Services thought he was still leaving on Friday and deleted his mail and voicemail accounts. *sigh* I can still reach him if he's at his desk, but that's about it.

Connie was online last night, and she said she'd come up either tomorrow or Friday, so I guess that means I need to get busy and wrap her present... I need to get Mom's cat cross-stitch done too, I haven't done a stitch since I left Maryland. *sigh* But it was getting close to done before, and if I work on it after she goes to bed tonight and tomorrow night, I should have it done by Christmas morning. Lisana, Queen of the Procrastinators, that's me!

Oh, I found a new journal I'm just starting to read; it's called (Parentheses), and I've only read one entry, but it seems to be very well done. I just can't seem to get into the guys' journals... I'll hit them when I go for a random site in Open Pages, and there's just nothing that pulls me in. Actually, not many of the women's journals have pulled me in either, but there are a few. I guess part of me wants to know what it's like to be a "normal" woman and have a normal life. Mine sure isn't that.

Yes, this is just another one of those "this is what happened to me" pages today; I can't seem to get into anything at the moment, so I guess I'll quit rambling for now and see if I can get anything posted.
