It seems impossible, but Convention 2000 is right around the corner. Mark your calendars for April 7-9 at the Sheraton Orlando North in Maitland. Now is the time to start making hotel and carpooling arrangements.

Starting with Friday's Pre-Convention symposium on women's health, "Will it be the BEST of your life, or the REST of your life?" we continue Friday night with a rip-roaring old-fashioned rally. Our new lobbyist Anne Gannon will speak, and an historic time line of AAUW will decorate the walls. This year's convention promises fewer business meetings, great workshops, and free time for socializing and networking. Please urge your younger members (under 40, or those young at heart) to join the Younger Member's Caucus which will meet after Friday night's festivities. For those interested in Public Policy, the Voter Education Committee will also hold a caucus Friday night.

Pat Windham, Director for the Legal Advocacy Fund, announced that Florida has once again been granted an LAF plaintiff. Dr. Cynthia Fisher, a biology professor at Vassar College, sued the college for sex discrimination in the denial of tenure. We will hear her story at the LAF luncheon. But...there's more...Betty Travis, a former plaintiff who spoke to us in Bradenton, will also be with us to talk about "Life After Discrimination."

Saturday night's banquet, "AAUW on the 'Light' Side," promises to be a fun and moving evening. All registrants are asked to bring a flashlight. Intriguing? For the first time EF is holding a Sunday morning breakfast that you don't want to miss. Bev Frasier, Director for the Educational Foundation, has wonderful things planned for it. And, of course, once again our official AAUW photographer Betty Sulfridge will be available for branch pictures.
