Summer 2000 FloriVision
Florida AAUW Educational Raffle a Success

by Bev Fraser, Director for AAUW Educational Foundation

Our Florida raffle produced $2,404.93 for AAUW Educational Foundation! With pre-convention sales credited to branches, one branch received credit for $380 toward the EF star. Several other branches received over $100 credit. My thanks to them; to Raffle Committee members Alex Sterling, Marjory Keenan, and Joanne Eaton; and to all you AAUW members who bought raffle tickets.

Congratulations to the raffle winners!

  • Diane Cochran: Walt Disney World, day passes (4)

  • Alice Sawyer: Bahama House (3 day, 2 nights stay)

  • Marge Peters Night: Swan Intracoastal Bed & Breakfast (1 night stay)

  • Theresa Alexander: Fantasy of Flight, passes (4)

  • Renee Ramsay: Publix Super Markets, $50 gift certificate

  • Lorene Esin: Shells Great Casual Seafood $10 gift certificates (2)

Thank you to the companies which donated these fantastic prizes!

A Note to the Wise:

While planning for this raffle, I learned that the state of Florida has statutes for conducting legal raffles. They are listed under Title XLVI, Chapter 849 section 849.0935: Charitable, nonprofit organizations; drawings by chance; required disclosures; unlawful acts and practices; penalties. This information is available from the Florida Justice Department (phone: 1-850-435-7352) and on the Internet http://www.leg.state.fl.us/citizen/documents/statutes.

AAUW Educational Foundation is registered with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (phone: 1-800-435-7352). Any branch considering a raffle is advised to check out and comply with state requirements.
