faq's about
this site
Q. What is this
site about?
Well, five years ago I had a difficult time
finding information to help me and people like me in similar situations.
Because of that, I started this site about four years ago with the goal
of helping other teens make better choices by helping everyone have
access to much needed information about teen
parenting*. That includes preventing
teen pregnancy and dealing with teen pregnancy in
positive ways. There is a lot of misunderstanding and prejudice
regarding teenage mothers and fathers from both teens and their parents and I want to
help combat that
ignorance.
Q. I think I
might be pregnant...what do I do now?
The first thing to do is to find out for sure.
Beyond that, you can check out the pregnant?
section. I also recommend you find your local Pregnancy
Center. The most important thing to
realize right now is that your life is not over despite popular
opinion. Your need to deal with what's happened but while you do that,
get and keep a broader
perspective. You
can't undo the choices that led here but you can make better choices
from this point. People make mistakes and the thing to do is learn from
them, don't repeat them, and deal with the consequences as best you can.
If you choose to keep your baby, become the best mom you can be! If you
choose to give your baby up for adoption, do so knowing that you are
giving your baby a family and a stable home. You're not alone and your
not the first person to go down this road. You may not know what to do
or how to handle things at first but hang in there. It really does get
better from here.
Q. Who runs
this site?
My name is Gretchen
(aka Maggi) and I'm a teen mom who became pregnant at 15. That was five
years ago. I am now happily married and I have two sons. (Benjamin was
born 9/7/01!!) I live in south-central
Illinois - oh, and my favorite number is 42. ;)
