Getting married is a very important step in anyone's life no matter what age you are. Obviously it is harder to build a successful marriage in your teens. The fact is, around 60% of teenage marriages end in the first 2 years. Relatively few actually make it and fewer still are happy unions.

I don't argue that it isn't difficult, it is beyond difficult. I do say that is possible, however, to build a happy, strong marriage even when you start out in your teens. Parental and family support it essential and so is a strong commitment and a healthy relationship. Chances are, if you are both in it for life, you can make it work.

To any teenager who is not married, may I caution you that as nice and wonderful as getting married right now may sound, the reality is much harsher. If you both have made up your minds, I beg you to please get premarital counseling from a trusted counselor or clergyperson. Don't do something you will regret!!
