Pregnancy Vaccine

What it is: An injection which is supposed to vaccinate a woman against the pregnancy hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotrohpin which is the same thing a pregnancy test looks for to indicate pregnancy). The hormone is produced when the egg is fertilized. When a pregnancy occurs and the embryo begins producing HCG, the 'vaccine' triggers a reaction killing the embryo and terminating the pregnancy. The injection lasts for one year. There are several disadvantages to this method including unknown consequences should pregnancy occur and the fact that it takes time for it to take effect and doesn't last for an exact period of timing leaving women vulnerable to pregnancy.

Status: Currently being used in India, Chile, Australia, Argentina, and Sweden.
