Our Mission

Loren     Luntiang Pilipinas aims to develop Forest Parks in urban areas. A Forest Park is an area planted with at least 100 forest trees (Narra, Acacia, Mahogany, etc.) or any other fast-growing tree species (Euchalyptus, Gemelina, etc.) planted not more than 4 meters apart; or along a 100 meter strip of roadway planted on both sides at not more than 2 meters apart.

Forest Parks will act as the "lungs" which will cleanse the city of its polluted air - the primary cause of respiratory diseases.

They will also be ideal venuesfor community gatherings and children's playgrounds. Needless to say, a Forest Park will enhance the aesthetic value of a neighborhood, among other benefits.

But for trees to grow they must be tended to for at least three (3) years, otherwise they will not survive. This is the reason why growing trees in mountainous areas is difficult. In contrast, trees planted in urban areas are accessible and therefore can be cared for. Since the thrust of Luntiang Pilipinas is to create awareness, trees planted in urban areas promote this objective because they are visible to greater number of people. The operative words in this program are accessibility and visibility.

The purpose of Luntiang Pilipinas, by itself, is not to reforest the entire country but to serve as a catalyst for massive reforestation through effective motivation.
