Ellen

Last year my favorite show was cancelled, Ellen. People said it lost it’s humor. I did not see that in any way at all, it’s an excuse, the plots were just as funny, if not funnier. I heard also that it was too gay. I’m not sure exactly was this means, because almost every show involves some kind of relationship and the plots very often revolve around problems that occur in the relationship. The best argument I heard was that people could no longer relate to the show. But, isn’t that like saying that I can’t like shows like Friends because I am gay and can not relate to Monica breaking up with Richard because he didn’t want to have kids. Or I can not possibly like the show Seinfeld because my fiance never died from licking glue on envelopes, like George’s did. I’m sure a lot of people couldn’t relate to that but they still watched and laughed. A lot of the problems Ellen had with her girlfriend on the show were just like heterosexual relationship problems. For example, when she was embarrassed to hold Lori’s hand in the movie theater, I’m sure many people have gone out with someone that wasn’t that good looking or maybe a man being shorter than a woman them feeling a little embarrassed in public at first. Or Lori’s daughter not liking Ellen at first, I think many people have been in a situation when the children of their significant other do not like them. I didn’t think Ellen was going to stay on the air for long when I heard she was coming out. I was shocked at the high ratings here coming out episode received. The warning on it, in my opinion, was inappropriate. I have seen a lot worse on other shows. The most Ellen did was kiss her girlfriend or hold her hand…big deal. Even episodes that did not have any contact, just talk of being gay still has the warning. Why?
