FineFineFine I hear a few of you say ... so you got yourself an education. What in and what else did you do?? ~~lol~~ Be patient!
Well ... from age 5 through to age 16 I "danced". Mostly ballet, with jazz and contemporary thrown in for good measure! .... I was a member of two Rock Eisteddfod teams at PLC .... a lot of fun and hard work .. but BOY! the Buzz of making it onto stage to perform in front of 25000 people in the finals made it all worth while!
Sports wise I enjoyed playing netball, cricket, softball, teeball and as you may have guessed previously .. I love anything to do with the water, so swimming was right up there! After a rather disastrous season playing cricket (YES .. before any of you lot pipe up I DID fall off the cricket pitch ..... go figure .... but I did manage it and have had a permanently weakened ankle ever since .... so equally, yes, it IS possible for me to fall "down" a perfectly flat driveway ... ~~lol~~) .... I retired from the sporting arena as anything other than a spectator.
Yeah Great .... tell us something INTERESTING!!! Geeeee You lot are SOOO impatient! ~~lol~~
So .... many have asked how it is that I came to learn so many languages (those being French, German, Italian and Indonesian ..... I'm not even going to comment on English). Well, first up, I'd like to point out that I may have attended classes in all of those ... but it doesn't mean I've retained more than just the basics. I can get by in French, German and Italian .... but don't expect me to be able to actually WRITE in anything other than English and (to an extent) Italian. Coz I can't. Much. ~~LoL~~ My love of languages stems from living in a household where one grandmother spoke French when she didn't want me to understand, and my other Grandparents spoke Swahili for the same reason. And being the particularly stubborn chyld that I am .... I was determined to understand them!!! .... It also helps that being a Sagittarian ... I love to travel (see my first about me page for details of these exploits!!) ... and I HATE being reliant on any one but myself .... ~~grin~~ and so I learnt a few languages. Maths and all science subjects and I just do NOT mix .... English was one of my favourite and best subjects .... ~~L~~ I love to read so having to read texts was NEVER a big deal .... it follows that I also really enjoyed History - both ancient history and what we call *modern* history. All of it is way interesting .... I'm just not too good at remembering dates ... ~~L~~ a massive failing as I found out all too soon ... ~~shrugs~~ who gives ehhh??
~~YAWN~~
all right all right all right!!!!! Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ~~LoL~~
As I've mentioned to a number of people ..... I'm not good in large
groups of people that I don't know ... ~~l~~ Hell .. I'm not good in SMALL
groups of people that I don't know! I'm actually quite a shy person, who
has managed to get away with it for so long through sheer bloodyheadedness.
So if I can convince you that I'm perfectly in control of the situation
... I will ... ~~l~~ ummmm what else? I love the company of a few good
friends, particularly out on the water .... ~~grin~~ and I love to be on
the beach where I can see for myself the true strength behind nature. I
love to read .... anything ... but especially sci/fi-comedy ... Terry Pratchett
and Robert Rankin are right up there .... I also adore the books by David
Eddings .... and E. Brent-Dyer as well ..... and drama ... Under Milk Wood
is an amazing piece and you HAVE to try and hear it!!! .... I love the
poetry of John Donne (yes, I know there's none of his stuff on my poems
and stuff page yet ... I'm working on it! ~~l~~) .... and ee cummings work
is pretty amazing as well (thanks to Greg for pointing this out!!) .....
music? oh dear. You had to ask, didn't you? Well ... anything from Indigo
Girls to Celine (for you Trace, in the same sentence :oP), to Keith Jarrett
(Greg ... I did learn something .... see!!!!) to Dire Straits ..... a little
Wagner and Vivaldi to even it out and we're just about done!! ~~lol~~ For
Sarah, I have to mention the likes of Aleisha's Attic and ~~ummmm~~ some
of the milder *alternative* stuff :o)
How bout photography I hear a few brave souls ask .... well .. I love the work of Robert Mapplethorpe ... and Dorothea Langes work is pretty amazing as well. As for others .. well ... you know how sometimes a photograph just JUMPS out at you from the page and touches a part of you that you didn't realise was there? Well .. those are the sorts of photographs I adore. Check out the National Geographic's last book of photos. I adored it. Ansel Adams work is pretty spectacular as well!!! :o)
So what else is there that you could possibly ever want to know? ~~LoL~~ ... and there are a few of you out there to whom the following answers will never make sense ... the rest of you .... No .. Yes .... not on your life ... .I'm not telling you THAT ... and happily.
Right .. now that we've got that out of the way .... here's how to find me if there is anything else you DO want to know ...
