PASTOR:
which means shepherd.
The shepherd of a sheep flock is the one that helps to take care of the sheep. He or she does not own the sheep, but should be a servant?of God to help take care of the congregation [flock].
- The Pastoral ministry is closely associated with teaching (Ephesians 4:11) as one of God's gift to the church. Such ministry fulfills its God ordained purpose when it help train the church members to be mature in faith and equipped for ministry and unifies the church in Christian faith and knowledge (Ephesians 4:12-13).
- Self - promotion runs counter to the biblical ideal of the pastoral ministry. Pastors should be called, prepared and lead by the Spirit of God into the direction he [God] wants him [the Pastor] to go. The Pastor is called to serve the members of the church that God brings to him, in doing this; he makes the sacrifices necessary or laying down his life?for the sheep [congregation].
- Christ has set the standard for pastoral ministry that goes beyond words or deeds. His sheep recognize his voice, as a trustworthy guide. Pastoral ministry is an expression of love for Christ.
- It is recommended to seek out to get to know the Pastors or other spiritual leaders in the church. Although the Pastor is there, at times, the workload can be quite a lot for just one person. So, God as designed for others to be of help. (1 Corinthians 12:28) The leaders' job is to help, to counsel, to train, to teach, to support and to help govern the lives of the congregation and the work of the ministry.
