Relationship:
1. behavior or feelings toward somebody else: the connection between two or more people or groups and their involvement with each other, especially as regards how they behave and feel toward each other and communicate or cooperate
2. connection by family: the way in which two or more people are related by birth, adoption, or marriage, or the fact of being related by birth.
- Happiness in relationship takes preparation. This preparation includes knowledge, wisdom and understanding. After acquiring the knowledge, the individual will have to APPLY, what they have learned. A part of our problem today, is that we need to know God’s clear understanding of how a relationship is supposed to be. After all it was he who brought the first woman to the man.
Ten things that causes your love to die in a relationship.
- After making Adam, God saw that it was not good for man to be alone. So, he made him a helper, equal to him. However he designed the helper differently from himself.
- The story of the creation of Adam an Eve is particularly important, for it lays the foundation of the biblical view of human nature and the relationship between men and women. Of particular note is the fact that Eve is created as a “suitable helper” for Adam (Genesis 2:18-22). The word does not imply subordination or inferiority, but identity, for only a being with the same personal capacities and capabilities as Adam could have related to him.
- The Holy Spirit is also our Helper, as a helper he is here to help, to assist and to enables the believers to live a holy life.
- Husband: A viewed in relationship to his wife. Teaching on the relationship between husband and wife is rooted in Ex. 21:10, which says that a husband must “not deprive” a wife of “her food, clothing and marital rights.” The New Testament teaches that wives, like husbands “own” their partner’s body. Thus, the sexual needs of women as well as men, are to be met within the marriage (1 Cor 7:3,4). Furthermore, as head, the husband is to imitate Christ and accept responsibility for his wife’s nurture (Eph 5:22-23). The husband is to love his wife as his own body and to nurture and care for her (1 Peter 3:7), which calls on husbands to respect or honor their wives.
- Wife: Because marriage was assumed in Hebrew society to be the desirable state for men and women, widows and divorcees were expected to remarry. The wife was a person who deserved love and respect. A similar attitude is reflected in the New Testament, which urges men to “be considerate as you live with you wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life” (1 Peter 3:7). The ideal wife of the New Testament, who lived in a society that encouraged no other occupation for women than homemaker, is pictured in Tit 2:4,5. Good wives “loves their husbands and children,” are “self-controlled and pure,” remain busy at home, are kind, and are subject to their husbands. “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:22) “ Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself: and the wife see that her reverence her husband.” (Ephesians 5:33)
- Boy/ girl friendship: A bond of liking and trust, marked by companionship and some degree of intimacy. A problem arises when this kind of relationship passes the boundaries. “There is some degree of intimacy” in this kind of relationship.
