![]() nancy & sid --- Excuse me, a doormat is good honest work... Only the bored and the wicked rich don't know that
Excuse me, poor man,
you know, the devil may care
It wasn't like that
You're one in a million
Your mouth is open,

my counselor looks like della reese from touched by an angel, only with saner hair and a lot less scary. for the next month or so we will meet weekly so i can speak some about the little things that make me feel nutty. i'm sure it will go well. it didn't even come with the discomfort of a needle prick like donating blood does. fascinating. of course, donating blood awarded me a white t-shirt with "millenium hero" printed across the chest, leaving counselling safely in the dust (i'm not so sure "millenium mental health hero" would have the same ring to it.. :) ---
"..have things been really rough lately? I expect to hear
everything when we actually are face to face again. I am currently dialing your number. It's Friday night....will you
be home. You better be..it's tradition."
he called especially to thwart my plans to sneak off and watch movies on saturday (exact wording: "You are forbidden to see the movies you want to see w/out me. That's it." hehe :) so instead of seeing anything spankly new i went the other route and went for things on my very old 'to see list'. 10 years. i've wanted to see sid and nancy for 10 damn years! of course, it was well worth the wait - if nothing else, to see courtney love flipper in an out of the movie in a minor part. it fascinated me that nancy spungen in the movie acted and looked exactly the same way courtney love acted and looked through early to mid nineties (when she cleaned up and whatever.) it made me wonder just how much of courtney love has been a persona, an alter ego so to speak, and how much is an actual image of a person. okay, whatever. see the movie. it's a classic, and a super-skinny, young and obnoxious gary oldman is wonderful. i also got a few episodes of politically incorrect and the search for one-eye jimmy, the latter with sam rockwell in a tiny role. that's not why you should see it, though. you should see it for john turturro's inspired disco dancing and afro, or for samuel l. jackson's whacked out vietnam vet guy with black rotten teeth, or steve buscemi as a great, snarly loser. run, don't sit. beer. |
